WoD MMORPG

Hey guys,

I was aimlessly surfing a few minutes ago and came across articles about a World of Darkness online RPG!!!!! The reason for the inordinate amount of exclamation marks at the end of the previous sentence is that I'm a big fan of WoD and when I read they were planning on making it online I almost ate my keyboard with glee.

All the articles I've read so far say that the development time will be 4 to 5 years, but they don't say when they started developing, or when they're going to start if they haven't already. Also, they don't talk about the content at all. I've heard rumours that it's just going to be Vampires and Werewolves which would be a shame, as there's waaaay more to WoD than just that.

Can anyone shed light on the points that I've raised?

Also, is anyone else a WoD fan?

The World of Darkness is the grouping of all of the games like Vampire: The Masquerade, Mage: The Ascension, Warewolf: The Apocalypse, Wraith: The Oblivion, Changeling: The Dreaming, Hunter: The Reckoning, Demon: The Fallen, Mummy: The Resurrection and a few others.

World of Darkness is a pen and paper RPG (from which a few games have been made) which is set in a world geographically identical to our own, but in a parallel universe. Aside from the two world not be historically identical, the only other difference is that God, Allah, Budda, etc were never there. As a result, there are vampires, werewolves, demons, wraiths, mages, changlings etc. All the nasty things that in our universe are just scary tales.

Now back in ye olde days people were aware of all of these nasty things running around, and a few of the brave took up arms to go and sort them out. That was how the Hunter line started.

Due to some events way back when (the reasons differ) open knowledge of all these horrible things sort of dwindled, so that in modern day, no one is aware of them (although there is still that subconscious fear of the dark, and for good reason). However the modern day hunters that descended from ye olde hunters still have that knowledge, but now they can't rely on anyone for help except their own kin, otherwise people will think they were mad and they'd be thrown in an asylum.

So that's the setting. As for how it works, well, think of all the different creatures I mentioned above as archetypes. So you would pick a vampire say. Then you would pick your bloodline (for werewolves it's tribe, etc) and off you go. The options so far are pen and paper or one of the single player video games available at the moment.

Which brings me back to my original quesiton, does anyone have any info on when the game will be released and does anyone have any info on the game content?

Sorry i have no info for you just wanted to chime in and say that would be freaking awesome, used to play the WoD stuff down south but when i moved north a while back there really wasn't a following for it up here. I would love to get into playing like a Ravnos or Bone Gnawer or maybe even a Red Cap (no not the Croatoa kind) on like an MMO platform that would be awesome. Hope you find out more info.

I seem to remember hearing something about this a while ago. I used to play as well and have some friends who are still hardcore players. If they are making a MMORPG then I wonder if its the old WoD or the new version they've released....I'll seek some people out and see what they know.

As part of the deal, it was announced that White Wolf would be adopting the EVE Online intellectual property into a RPG, and CCP explicitly stated "There will be a World of Darkness Online", referring to a MMORPG version of the game. However, the manner in which it was conveyed suggests that the game is not yet under development, and therefore a product release might be years in the future.[1] According to the latest news, work has already begun on the WoD MMORPG and full time production is to commence within the year.[2]"
