| Server Transfer has arrived! |

Character Transfer will allow customers to move characters from one server to another.
Character Rename will allow customers to rename a selected character.
Both of these features are not part of Issue 10: Invasion. Although we are beginning to test them now, we anticipate that they will not be enabled on the live service until after the launch of Issue 10.
We estimate that both features, Character Transfer and Character Rename, will carry a transaction fee of $9.99 each per use (there will be no fee for transfers to or renames on the Training Room). Should a Character Transfer have a name conflict on the destination server, a free Character Rename will be made available to resolve the conflict and rename the moving character.
These new features exemplify our commitment to improve the quality of the City of Heroes experience. We feel the price of these features is enough to prevent potential abuse, but also reasonable enough to not be prohibitive for those who want to improve their gaming experience by moving servers or changing a character name.
IMPORTANT! Customers who are interested in taking advantage of the Character Transfer service should know that it is possible in the future that we may make changes to the game that would remove the need to Transfer servers. One example of such a change would be a “server-less” game configuration where all players can group with anyone, without the restriction of which server they play on. We are not committing to this “server-less” configuration, and in fact there are no plans to implement a “server-less” environment this calendar year, but because we are charging a fee for these services, it is important that our players understand that the possibility exists. We want to be very clear in this regard so that those who do decide to make use of a Server Transfer, when it becomes available, understand that they may not need it in the future.

Sweet! I wanna rename a few characters and transfer some to my main vill and hero servers (or get a high level character into the GAA)

At this point, the Character Rename may be the most viable option for me, especially if they might open the transfer option later...

Sorry to say, Don, but Lighthouse has said (even later in the thread) that Character Renames will only be given out if the name is currently taken on the server...
...which can be fudged around if you make a new toon with that has the name you want!
If you check out the Community Digest thread on the OBs, Lighthouse has been replying to questions for about 2 hours in the discussion thread. He's on almost as much as I am!

Sorry to say, Don, but Lighthouse has said (even later in the thread) that Character Renames will only be given out if the name is currently taken on the server...

Sound to me like you can buy either a server transfer or a name change for $10 each. But if you transfer to a server where your name is already taken, then you get a free name change.

Freakin Sweet! This should put a plug in a lot of whiners out there that keep this issue on the top of their perpetual gripe list!
It's nice to know that Cryptic is listening to player feedback. I know this one has taken some time to come about, but the coding involved is probably a pain in the butt, and content advancement usualy takes precedence over this kind of feature.
It'a also cheaper than transfering a WoW character from server to server, so we're getting a deal!

I may be wacky by saying this. What I would like to do instead of totally moving a toon, COPY a toon.
For like PvP stuff. I really would like to experience other servers Sirens, but I dont really wanna take the time to level up each of my Detra's ( and yes she is on just about every server. ) Seeing the same people is great, but there have been times when its like.. Oh its "name" again. I killed him 50 million times already, or oh great its "name" I am going to get my butt handed to me.
Just thought I would throw that out on the table

I'm thrilled about this...mainly because I'll soon be able to get the darned . off of Onion.'s name! I'm so tired of doing a mission and saying "Send an invite to Onion. with the period."

Dude, that is hilarious. Thanks for pointing that out just now.
Are there many "Onion" toons running around without the period?
And thx for feeding my obsessive compulsive disorder :D Now everytime I see a post of yours, I will have to look for that period.

it brought a lot of bug gave people dev powers i got a lvl 50 by typing /levelup lol hers a link to other bugs it brought

Now, am I correct when I read this is not giving you the ability to copy the character to the new server and yet also keep them on the current one?
This would move the character to the new server and delete them from the old. This is how the training room is currently working.
By the way, I wanted to make sure I commented on Big's Post not that other copy cat posting...

yup yup, you are correct. The character on the original server will be deleted during the move process. Now that I'm playing less, I'd love to copy my Fire/Kin to every server. He's a great farming toon =D But I'm just lazy now. I never realized how much I played when I was leveling 6-8 toons at a time and making progress on all of them. Now it's just one or two the favs when I hop back on.

FINALLY! Now all I need to do is sit down and see if all my toons from Freedom are gonna make the switch, or if it's just a select few. Nas can finally bring her tank and fender over too! Friggin' Sweet!
