Marvel.com - Wolverine Spin-off movie.
It looks like they are going to be making a wolverine movie with Hugh Jackman reprising his role from the X-men movies.
Interesting. I hope they play the story and character the right way (similiar to the comics).
Wolverine has a large following and I wonder how people would take to the story changing from the comics.

Sweet! I kinda knew they would do this anyhow. There's money in it!
As for people not liking the story changes. that always happens with these crossovers to movies. Some will accept that they have to shorten things so they can make the movie, and some will just love yet another in the "What if" series that had tons of alternate story lines.
Personaly, I love Hugh's depiction of Wolvie. He could be a little shorter, but he plays the role like the Wolverine in my head. I hope they do a good job of it. I am a huge Wolvie fan.

Although people were moderately cranky about the X-Men movies being a little "off", I don't think it'll be that big of a deal. All in all, most people thought the characters were represented very well in the movies, even though it wasn't 100% true to the actual origin story.
I think the Wolvie spin off movie will probably represent very well.

And since the X-Men are a group, trying to make the first movie stick closely to the comics would be hard because 1) the group has changed drastically over the years and 2) it would be difficult to get a lot of origin explaination in one movie.
Spiderman was so close to the comics because it had one hero to explain.
Same thing with Punisher and The Incredible Hulk (kinda). The Fantastic Four's and Dr Doom's was changed a bit too.
But on superherohype.com, they said a Magneto spin-off was also in the planning stage.

Hard to imagine a Wolverine played by Jackman as not being good. I won't be able to help but catch this one in theaters! Thanks for starting the frenzy. :)

The GF and I went thorugh a little exercise on that exact topic after another Comic to movie crossover conversation. We couldn't really think of another actor that could have pulled it off.
Just a fun question for everyone:
Who else do you think they could have cast into the role, and still done a good job of it?
When the first movie came out, Hugh Jackman was a total unknown to me. "Who is this bozo that thinks HE can play the mighty Wolverine!?!?" Well, I was pleasantly suprized!

I think my favorite line of the 3 movies came in the second one when the school is under assault. Logan says "You picked the wrong house bub!"
And I have to agree, I was a bit apprehensive at Hugh playing the role as well. I dont think it could have been done better.

Well this goes back some years ago, but I had heard that in the initial stages of planning the 1st X-film there was a dark horse slated for those famous Adamantium Claws, none other than Glenn Danzig of Misfits/Samhain/Danzig fame. Glenn was thought to be the perfect unknown to the masses actor for the role as he already resembled Logan in an almost scary way.(think small, hairy, and very angry).
Now all these years and films later I think Hugh has really made ol' hack and slash come to life and I can think of no other actor that can bring Wolvie to the silver screen.

I think that in X-2 Hugh was awesome as Wolvie. The person that I think would have been a good person to play this role is Jason Stratham. That secene in the first Transporter when he's fighting all of those guys at one time by himself, and just totally wastes all of them, fricken awesome!!!
I remember reading somewhere about the first X-men movie that Dougray Scott was the one orignally cast to play the ol'canuckle head but broke his arm while filing MI:II. From there that rest is history.
