GW PWNS WoW
When World of Warcraft came to town, peeps thought they were here to stay,
But then GW popped on out, and blew Warcrafts ass away,
I mean, who would want to go play Warcraft, all they have is brain-dead players,
Fees that suck your wallet dry, lots of noobs and tons of PKers.
GW actually looks real life, all the way down to the tooth,
What the hell is up with Warcraft? Did those chars pop out of Doctor Suess?
GW is actually intresting, lots of treasures for the finding,
All that WoW has to offer, is cursing noobs, and endless grinding,
And WoW has 2 crappy teams, The stinkin alliance, and the crappy horde,
GW rlly changes that aspect, at least Kurz and Lux doesnt leave you bored,
As for the lvl cap, I'd rather be lvl 20 than 70 any day,
And......my oh my.....in GW you dont go broke along the way!=)
And GW's gameplay....surpasses WoW's way by far,
Those $15 dollars a month playing WoW, could definetly go towards my car,
And to add to the Pwnage of WoW, they have some messed up players to score on,
Who the hell dies from a video-game? Or leaves their kid to starve while they play you moron?
So GW has taken the Game, GW is the new, WoW is the old,
Just like Blizzards name states, GW put them in the cold,
But even though Warcraft has more players, than GW does now,
Soon the the sclaes will turn and finally ....oh finally.....there will be no more WoW......=)

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I raided, weak and weary, over many a strange and anonymous players of ' PUG groups galore'. While I waited at Molten Core, suddenly there came a stuttering, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", I muttered, " gimme back my ping and raid!"..... quoth the server, 404.
There had been many a night where I ended up sitting around and waiting for the rest of the raid to gather only to be disconnected as the server took a brief dirt nap.

Lol I can't believe that many people bought it, how many are active subscribers? GW should have hit the 4 million mark by now.
Great poems both :) I tried WoW on a 14day trial while the GW server problems stopped me playing. My account got hacked at day 10 which made me giggle, hacked for four days :)
I can see the attraction of WoW as something to dip in and out of occasionaly when I need something different to do but I couldnt play as much as GW, there really is too much grinding, boss queuing and repetition for me. The persistent world was something I enjoyed aswell as the professions, I think GW2 will be a major contender and threaten WoWs position, I cant wait for a large persistent GW world, it's gonna be awesome.

In my honest opinion i don't think WoW sucks. Guild Wars players and WoW players are sort of two different classes. If you are the kind of person who likes spending months to get to the highest level, then months to get the best gear and indulge in the all the work you have put into your character then you are probably someone who would enjoy WoW. If you like spending a month or so (considering if its your first character) getting to the highest level, then focusing on your personal builds, improving them and coming up with combinations to put you above the rest, then guild wars is probably a game you would Enjoy.
I rolled a 70 in WoW but I don't like the idea of having to sign-up and commit my time to fit a schedule. Raid guilds and such. I just didn't like the idea that if i didn't get on i would be letting someone down or something. Where as guild wars my friend can just ask me on msn or something, i can get on and do a quick mission. It fits my lifestyle more than WoW does.

I like WoW, I really do... I just started to realize that I had been paying for a subion when I hadn't gotten around to play the game in months so I closed my account and picked up something else, something new.

you have to take in to account that many GW players have multiple accounts (2, 3 or even 4+), and you also have to take in to account how many are active (just like WoW).

Despite my disagreement with a few statements, very nicely done.
Disagreement 1: | QUOTE | | Fees that suck your wallet dry |
If you've got a decent job at all, minimum of $6 an hour and 30-40 hour a week, that's $180-$240 per week before taxes. That's a minimum of $540-$720 a month. If $15 a month is too much to pay for an involved game, that's fine.
Disagreement 2: | QUOTE | | lots of noobs and tons of PKers. |
Noobs: It's a hazy line, but I think there are less difficulties with players in WoW, just because of the fee. Not laying anything on any age group, but younger players are IN GENERAL harder to get along with.
PK'rs: Depends on which PvP server you're on. If you don't like PK'rs, don't be flagged, and don't join a newer server. On the older servers, Hordes and Alliances help each other out quite a bit.
Disagreement 3: | QUOTE | | at least Kurz and Lux doesnt leave you bored |
Considering that Factions got the worst rap from the community because of the tiring gameplay AND the introduction of factions, I'd say Horde vs Alliance is much more interesting.
Disagreement 4: | QUOTE | And......my oh my.....in GW you dont go broke along the way!=)
|
If you're talking about real money, look above.
If you're talking about In-game money, I'm now making MUCH more money than I ever did in Guild Wars. 2 words: Auction House.
Disagreement 5: | QUOTE | | And GW's gameplay....surpasses WoW's way by far |
I think that WoW gives many more options for gameplay and strategies.
In Guild Wars, you take out each mob how? Sending in something to tank. Okay. That's it? Or everyone charge in and have mages put up wards, Necros put up wells.
But in WoW, you can:
-Take control of a Mechanical unit to kill everything for you.
-Send in a rogue to knock out one of the enemies for 20-30 seconds, more than enough time.
-Have everyone stealth(If you've got the right classes), and just sneak by em all.
-Teleport past them using the Mage's Blink: which sends the caster ahead a ways.
Sorry, I'm just so excited with WoW now. You can see from my signature what I'm playing.
Guild Wars: 2 years. Done for a bit. Will check out GW2 but not holding out.
World of Warcraft: 1.5 months. Loving it. Money well spent.
EDIT: Just want to add, one other feature I love is the ability to use Modifiers in the game. For example, I currently have a Combat Counter, which can record damage delt by each player in a party, damage taken, heals done, taken, Max hit number, etc. And I also have a mod that tells me how much an item is worth and what it's used for.
Guild Wars is a very good game, but World of Warcraft is much more involving and complex. Create your own armor, make bombs, target dummies that attract enemies to allow you to escape, pickpocketing, etc.

Just to clear up for people who haven't played WoW:
The strategies listed are from specific classes and their roles. Mechanical units are for engineers only (you can only have 2 primary professions), rogue's sap is a form of crowed control used to tone down the enemy numbers. Bombs are engineering as well as dummies; and they aren't guaranteed (especially in end game) to allow escape. And they each cost heavy materials to make which you have to find yourself. Pickpocketing is a rogue skill only.
I wouldn't say more complex, i would probably say funner or more entertaining style's of combat. But most the game is grinding and questing solo so you wont use much of these (maybe a couple in an instance[much like dungeons in GW])

Yeah, I've played WoW from December 2006 to the most previous May and I've been keylogged so many times, I just decided to quit. I've changed my password countless times, complained to the company about it, installed some good security to prevent it (after the security installation, I was only keylogged once after but that was the last straw). I mean, how can a company getting millions every month have such crappy security? I mean, I always had to find myself trying to get new armor because some fool would sell the previous set and any weapons that could be sold. Also, they would mail all the money to their characters....
Compared to GW which gets money from the initial purchase and I've had no problems at all. I also found WoW to be fun for a while but when I got to the lvl 40 range (Stranglethorn Vale for those who know it), I found it annoyingly redundant. "Kill this many" quests, "get this much" or find "this rare drop" quests. I was just getting sick of it. I may get back into it to get to lvl 70 but I find it annoying that most of the game is work so I can get to the actual fun stuff. What's the point of grinding 80% of the game in order to enjoy the remaining 20%?

You've got to remember that at the end of the day, people are playing WoW/Guild Wars because they want to, no-ones holding a gun to their head and making them play. If someone thinks that WoW/GW is a bad game, then they wouldn't be playing it.
Nice poem anways, quite funny. ;-)

I agree 100%. The people who play WoW are looking for something different from Guild Wars. They are willing to pay the $15 a month, just as the Guild Wars community is willing to pay %50 for new campaigns/expansions. They are different, and while some people compare them, personally, I think they are completely different. (I realize I haven't played WoW, so if I'm wrong, don't flame, just let me know. But from reading everyone's posts, it seems like they are at least different enough to entice two different groups of people (mostly)).

uzume, you are right. Both games are completely different. WOW is mainly grind to lvl 70 then do raids and dungeons or "gank" (kill) players that are ridiculously below your lvl, or if you are really lucky, kill an entire ally town, er ally/horde town (I guess you guys know what side I prefer, lol). GW is quest/grind for a few days/weeks, month tops, and then either do dungeons or pvp. Basically...
