| Single-Player RPG Games for PC |
|
|
|
Hey, was just wondering if any of you know of any awesome or decent RPG games for the PC. Single-Player is a must.
It's not that I'm leaving WoW at all, lol, but I'm feeling nostalgia for the good ol' RPG games. Something similar to Star Ocean/Final Fantasy/Legend of Dragoon.
It'd be nice for a change to have a world to myself, and to have an awesome storyline with beautiful cinematics.
I've actually been looking for a while, and so far, nothing has really interested me. It seems nobody wants to make single-player RPGs for the PC.

Final Fantasy 7 & 8 are on the top of my list but Fable's good also....just too short for my taste but otherwise good. ^^

I've done Fable and Morrowind, as well as Oblivion.
I guess I should have clarified a bit. I'm not really interested in RTS games. I would love a game that had:
-The Random Battle Encounters, like FFX and FF7 had.
-Timed Combo Strikes, similar to Legend of Dragoon. The way you fought in LoD was to time the strike when the two squares lined up, then you could progress to the next stage. Sometimes you could make a 9-hit combo. This is a Turn-Based game.
I've played Neverwinter Nights, and got bored of it fairly quickly. Diablo and Baldur's Gate seems like more of the same.
PS: Xaviak and Sephar: They have PC versions of FF?

I know for a fact they have a pc version of FF7, which leads me to believe they do for others as well.

Hmm, not the "traditional" RPG's but have you tried Knights of the Old Republic I & II?
Those were some good SW based RPG's.
I have not installed/nor played KotR II yet on my PC, but I finished the first on my Xbox. I bought II just to crank teh old graphics to max and droooool.
And yes, they have FF7/8 for the PC. My first experience with FF is with VIII on my older Win98 PC. :-D
Does anyone know if FF8/FF& work on Vista or XP? I wanted to ask since my SF Academy didnt work anymore on XP. :-((

Yes Kotor is an awesome rpg game. Star Wars phreaks luuuuuuuuv it. Me, personally, am not a Starwars PHREAK! Nor do I own an Xbox. Microsoft is a (PoS) computer company, and will stay a pos computer company. Nintendo Rules the console world.

Well it depends if you want some newer or older ones, but everytime I feel like playing an old rpg or action/adventure game I go with these:
Phantasy Star I and II - The other ones are good too but I was my fave
7th Saga (really good too)
Diablo I
Diablo II and LOD (But best played online imo)
Zelda A link to the Past (this is one of my favorites games ever, good memories from when I was a kid)
There are more but can't think of them right now, but old rpgs are the bOmB!!! lol

I <3 All the Zelda games. I have all of Them since the very first one on NES. =D
I haven't beaten the latest one yet, (Twilight Princess) Really long.
Diablo is awesome, allthough I advise you playing it online. If you do the 2nd one make sure you get the expansion pack. I made an elemental druid, he is the shniiiiiiiiit.

A friend of mine had trouble finding ffVII for computer and when he got a copy of it.. it was intended for either windows 95 or 98 which I can't remember(thinking 95).. think he had a bit of trouble getting it to work on xp home edition. Not sure if he had any success.

first off i will say Legend of Dragoon was AWSOME! lol loved it
ummm if your looking for decent RPG's for PC you can go FF7 and FF8 but they are hard to find sometimes.
try
-Baulders gate
-Phantasy Star Universe (offline and online mode)
-Knights of the old republic was good, i recommend the first one, the 2nd one was ok, not great.
also if you like and miss the old school stuff, grab a couple emulators and try the old Phantasy Star games ( 3 and 4 were the best for Genesis) i love going back and playing those for fun. i find alot of RPG's games now are not like they used to be, so go back and play some old stuff. Anyways i hope that helps.

they do offer patches but even they can be hard to come by these days. I had FF7 working. my buddy only got it to work upto the Chocobo Races at the Gold Saucer. So be careful if you do decide to get FFVII
