| I put my hertz (Hz) on max... |
|
|
|
Hi! I've just bought a new screen... when i was adjusting the settings on it I maxed the Hz to 160, just to see what would happen (stupid, stupid!!). Now when i try to start my computer it's just beeping and a red text tells me that the graphics card is not connected, thought it is... So anyone got any tips what to do? Is my graphics card fryed or? I would be very thankfull for some help.

Have you reset the refresh rate to a lower setting? It may just be your card can't handle that high a refresh rate, pretty obvious answer I know but can't think of anything else :)

If u have Win XP u can try starting your PC and after first screen goes off (just before windows starts loading) hold F8 key or F5 (depends on mainboard). This should bring menu with options like :
"start in safe mode"
"start with last good known configuration"
Try the last known configuration.
If it won't work try "safe mode", uninstall your graphics then reboot and it should start with standrad graphics drivers. Now you can reinstall graphics drivers and configure your refresh rate :)
Hope it helped.
Removed some typos, introduced new ones :)

Hmmm,,, ohhh... I did that myself. I turned the hertz to max when i got my new graphic to my old computer, and then the screen said "No signal". And I couldn't repair it. My bro told something about go into the bio setup, but I couldn't figure it out, so i had to visit my computer repairman :(.
I don't know how to repair it, but I think you need to visit YOUR computer repairman sadly..

Most likely, you've set the refresh rate too high for the monitor to detect. As was said before, start your computer in safe mode. Once there lower the monitors refresh rate and apply changes.

Thanks for all the replys, allthough I doubt i'll be able to start in either safe mode or with last good known configuration, because I don't get any loading of windows when i turn the computer on... just get the red text and the bepping right away. I'll still try it though when i get home.

So I got the computer back from shop yesterday. Report said that one of my cables had fryed + that they had gotten rid of all dust in it... charged me 850:- SEK (125 USD) for it (^^,) I'm not upset with them though because they also fixed the "This isn't a valid copy of Windows" I used to get at startup^^ (worth every cent).
Thanks for the codes, may come in handy next time.
