Rogue Vanguard String - War Zone (SPOILER ALERT!!!!)

****I added a spoiler alert to the title for this post. Sorry if I spoiled anyone's fun. 90 lashes with a wet noodle!*****

Okay -

So I FINALLY finished the third string of missions in the War Zone - the string you get from Gaussian. Did anyone else find it odd that in the previous missions where you were fighting "with" the Vanguard they died fairly easily and did little to help you against the Rikti menace - yet when you were fighting "against" them they suddenly almost never missed and did tons more damage?

I was doing this string solo (most of my SG is off evenings this week doing one thing or another and I've been in too many super bad PuG's to just randomly pick people up) so that could be part of it - but I normally solo most things set on Invincible with m o j i t o and I had to knock my dif way down with these guys and STILL had trouble!

Just curious if anyone else had tried soloing them and what they thought!

I'd have to disagree. I soloed the War Zone with my fifty scrapper found that on more than half the missions I could sit back and the Vangaurd would clear out almost all the Rikiti. I thought they seemed to strong, even when I had to fight them. I've seen one Vangaurd take out like 20 Rikti.

Well - guess everyone has different experiences. I'm not lvl 50 so perhaps that's why I had a harder time soloing them in the "vs" missions. Also, I found the Vanguard to be completely useless inside the "helper" missions. Maybe out in the zone it's different but inside my missions all they were good for was agro and piling their bodies up to try and stop other things from coming through. I haven't gotten to do too much out in the WZ itself, so maybe I'll get a different view when I get into some of that! Either way I'm enjoying the WZ strings :) Glad to see some people are having an easier time with the VG than myself.

Hummm,

Yeah, Renagade Vanguard is a tough nut to handle. I took a 50 level Whimcycle on Freedom through it Solo. [Or as solo as a Ill/empath ever gets.] I noticed I was taking tons of damage and was losing Stamina by the bucketful. That when I scan my power on list and noticed I had several debuffs running.

So, I changed tactics, carried more blues to make up for the stamina losses, stayed farther away from the RV so that when they did throw debuffs, they would target the PA and the Spectral Terror. Once I did this, the fights went a lot quicker.

Well - on the same string, well sort of - I think it may be for The Dark Watcher - any recommendations for team size on the Robot Posi/Robot Manti mish? Just want to know what I'm in for before I drag others along only to have our hineys handed to us! :)

Vanguard are very strong in my opinion. I havn't started the arc with that mission but I am looking forward to it. My complaint about 1 mission in particular. As a Ill/Rad I can take on EBs and AVs with out much trouble. When I got the missions to kill the legion war leader guy. The ambush was the size of an invasion spawn. The EB had a sliver of health left and was killed by Faultline while i lay on the ground dead. How come they do not put vanguard in this mission? It would help whole lot more then giving me Fusionette, Faltline, and that Psi rikti guy.

Heh,

Be prepared to have your head handed to you when you do the Robo Posi/Mani. It was a tough fight for my 50th Ill/Empath.

1) Clear the room with the safe in it before trying to pilfer the safe, that is what triggers Posi.

2) I'd bring the following a Tank, a Scrapper, a blaster and a healer, preferably someone who can counter Posi's debuffs. I was doing fine against Posi until the PA petered out. Then he started dumping all those debuffs on me. Ouch!

3) Swarm Mani, he is not that hot without Posi support.

4) Don't back into a corner, Stay spread out and expect an attack within seconds of touching the safe.

The way I did this was just by soloing Manticore and about 25 of those Jaegers outside, then enter the cave, cleared it, triggered Positron, died, fought again, died, fought again, won, and took the safe.

Thanks for the advice! Forewarned is forearmed - at least I hope so. Gonna give a run at the Robo Phalanx tonight - I'll let you guys know how it goes :)

Well we did our Robo Run last night and it went surprisingly well. I was hoping I'd be able to run it with the core four from my SG (Fire/Ice Tank, Dark/Dark Defender, Grav/Rad Controller and Spines/Regen Scrapper). Unfortunately the Tank and Defender were out for the night at a friend's party (silly real life getting in the way of saving the virtual world). So I recruited an alternate from the SG in a Broad Sword/Regen Scrapper. We actually ended up having more trouble with the swarms of large groups of Nems than with the Robos themselves. Manti was a huge pushover - but I will say I think we got INCREDIBLY lucky on Posi in that as he jumped to toss out his Neutron Bomb he got himself wedged in some pipes overhead and thus was unable to launch another attack until our Controller had gotten him under control. We had him chipped down to right at 1/2 health before he got himself un-stuck so that really worked in our favor. No idea what lies ahead in this string but needless to say I'm looking forward to it:)
