Is money making dead?

In your opinions how is the money making factor now within Guild Wars.

my opinion. Its dead. The reasons for this are as followed.

Running: running seems to be becoming cheaper and cheaper and harder to make money on. example i have been running sanctum cay as either Mo/R or Mo/D for a while for 1.5k with 100% success in under 9 mins. Now floods of wammos or VwK wars come in and flood with "PRO RUNNING FREE !!!!" or "PRO RUNNER 500G!!!!!!!". and due to this i cant make money through running and droks now is just a mess for running in terms of organisation.

Farming: Farming since HM release and the loot scaling introduction and farming codes being taken away , making money from farming itself seems to be increasingly harder. less drops and the drops are be coming cheaper

example: ectos during farming codes = 10-11k
ectos now = 4 - 4.4k

Trading: Many wepons have been descreasing rapidly with the some of the expenisve skined wepons now becoming yet another item people now wont have to save for. e.g i remember a perfect zodiac sword req 9 ust to be a hell of alot. Yesterday i sold my perfect req 10 zodiac sword for 40k and most people offered 40k. and the luck i also got a 15^50 +30 sephis axe req 10, i now see no gain in putting a 20/20 mod on it because no intrest in people of buying it and if it does sell for an low price maybe 35k.

This was just how i felt about the market and money making for Guild Wars at the current moment, please give your ideas and views on the matter.

What I do is hard mode farm and sell to the merchant. If you get a perfect mod, salvage it off and save it. When you have about 10 of them, stand in a town and start selling. If its not green or a perfect gold, its merchant bait.

RE: Is money making dead?

If you are referring to money making in regards to, farming and running, then yes it is pretty much dead. But if you are referring to ways to make money, there are still many ways to do that. Whenever I need money I just take a character through a campaign, this usually nets me about 50-90k + materials and items. It takes some time, but I have fun in the process so it all works out. You can also kill stuff in hard mode, either solo or with guild/friends. There are still quite a few ways to make money, just not as fast as it use to be, but I am not complaining. I like to be able to afford things now that the economy has leveled out.
Note: I always thought the economy was highly unstable in the past, the market for items was insanely high, and the methods of earning money was very specialized. Now items/materials/dyes, are more in reach for the common player.

RE: Is money making dead?

The Introduction of Hard Mode has helped money making for everyone. Hardcore Solo Farmers like me saw a drop in our revenue but we're still able to easily make a fortune.

The economy has never been more screwed up in my opinion. There was a time when Ectos were 17k a piece, FoW Armors were pretigious and Superior Vigor was 50k. And while things have changed making money is still easy.
Running has been discouraged throughout Factions and somewhat in Elona but in Tyria, Droks runs can bring in som decent cash.
Hard Mode Farming is by far the best way to make money now. Now enemies that were previously a waste of time to farm, like the minotaurs outside Ice Tooth, can be lvl 24 and can drop some nice items. I see your point about good drops being harder to find but if you farm a variety of places, ive been able to make more money than before the release of Hard Mode.

One thing that I've noticed and I'm not too happy about is the market for High-end items. There was a time where just have 15^50, 20/20, +30 on a Melee weapon would make it worth an insane ammount of money. Now It also has to have a rare skin as "Perfect" weapons have become more and more common. So to sum all that up - The Economy is Screwed, but Money making is Not Dead,

The Guild Wars Economy Is Dead

Money making is not how ever.

The only reason the Guild Wars Economy is dead because money making and ways to make money are on the rise.

So to answer your question, Money making is not dead.

I could rant about this forever, but I g2g eat breakfast...

At the end of the day, something's only worth as much as someone else is willing to pay for it (even if it is the merchant), and who doesn't want to spend as little as possible?

It's almost inevitable that items once considered rare and expensive will eventually drop in value and status. If someone has the capability to farm a rare item, it's only a matter of time before others follow suit, and as a result prices fall.

worst part about the economy is that mini pets are the shit now no body cares about weapons any more only if there rare perfect since so many people are selling minis and theres about 200+ each day there gonna go down the hole with the runes and dye i prefer thinking it of the merchant is your best buyer now and the economy is the hell hole of rip offs and scammers

i agree, i mean take ectos for example. how many of u can honestly say u didnt even think of making a VwK warr after u heard about the build? ectos dropped cuz nobody was buying and every1 was selling, and not selling to players, they sold to the rare mat trader bcuz nobody would buy them. then the rare mat trader price falls and well u get the rest.

also note how people are saying "it isnt worth farming extos anymore". KEEP THAT ATTITUDE! not bcuz it really isnt worth it but if nobody farms ectos, and some1 has to buy them bcuz they want FoW, guess where they have to get them from. the rare material trader. then u got the people wanting FoW saying, o well its only 4K each *next piece* o well its only 5K each, etc etc. and if every1 continues buying from rare mat trader and not other players prices go back up.

RE: Is money making dead?

the only reason i see the economy as bad atm is because prices of armor stay the same no matter what. as prices of other things drop so do the profits so even though you may be able to get a great gold for less money because the money is "worth" more you still have to pay 15k per piece of a high end armor when you arnt making that 15k as fast. if that doesnt make sense make sure to say something and ill try to re-word it.

attitudes like that are what brings GW economy down, selling to the merch it was caused the drop in price in the first place. also i believe bots and ebay selling has ALOT to do with the inflation of the GW economy. that being said i will request something i thought i would never EVER say........

yeah that wont work bcuz all they do is use the money they make off ebay to buy more and more accts and the cycle repeats, you have to get rid of the way they make the money

I do a little Old Ascalon Hard Mode solo with a tank getting about 2k per run and maybe a gold or 2, only problem is these golds arent the best, and about 85% of the time they are elemental damage Axes, Bows, Swords, Hammers....

yeah,if they made farming more challanging so that bots would find it harder, but not so hard that humans have probs.

RE: Is money making dead?

I play the game normally without farming/running and I make a good amount of cash.

I just do not see why everyone is upset for. So you can not make 100k a day. Big deal.

And Yes I am one of the people who run others for free/tips when I have the chance. ';..;'

Alright, so you can't make as much, but prices are also down. So what you can make will buy the same thing you would have been able to back in the ole days.
I've been able to make some cash by doing 1.5k LA->Sanctum Runs (getting 2+ People) as well as the Sanctum Cay mission run (Tips, usually 1-3k per run at peak hours).
So, if you figure that a Sanctum Cay run takes ~9-10 minutes, that's ~6-18k per hour (since groups are easy to get with tips). It's profittable, and easy.

Hardmode has made things easier to make money but it takes so long for such little

Another way to make money is to sell unidentified gold items to people going for that title track.

I agree, the noob Dervish runners run Droks run for like 1k and below, it used to be 4 to 5k a run, I used to run Droks but i deleted my runner since it isnt worth the time anymore.

As for other ways, I'd say DoA farming with partys

Or you could Solo it^^

I dont see running droks as being a mjor source of income anymore. Back when I did it with my wammo I could charge 3k a piece, making it worth the time it took. Now I can hardly see the 1k a person balancing the time it takes to run it.
So once again:

Running < Farming
