Lately I've been working on getting the best hero/hench combination for vanquishing a few areas. Now it was always, and I mean ALWAYS the monks that would go down fast and first usually closely followed by Olias if he was on the team.
I tried all sorts of different skill combo's for Tahlk' and Dunk', even switched their roles around- Tahlk' went heal and Dunk' went prot, didn't work. I only use minor runes and always give them vigor runes so its not a low health rating that got them down the first, just shear stupidity I guess, hell their monks so why did they always fail at healing or protecting themselves?
Now recently I noted how well Norgu did as a domination mesmer armed with a skillbar full of interrupts, he fast became my favourite hero, interrupted well and didnt die as quickly as the others, the fast cast rebirth comes in handy too :)
On a whim I decided to give the monks secondary of mesmer and arm them both with a couple of interrupts...to my surprise they now stay alive alot longer, and I mean alot, I am impressed by this rather weird turn of events. I did the same with Olias, set him up as MM but made sure he had the dmg and condition diversion skills available to MM's and set him to avoid aggro, then added web of disruption, now I have a hero MM who doesn't die anywhere near as much either (good thing as those minions dont want to be added foes to your aggro).
It seems that hero AI is good at interrupting and so it seems interrupting at the right time...anyone any thoughts on this or noticed the same?

I noticed something similar while making my first few attempts at vanquishing areas in Tyria. I always found Dunkoro and Tahlkora dieing first while I stayed alive as a Wammo and Zhed (barely doing any damage as he spammed the wrong skills) would follow shortly after.
So I decided to take Babinro's advice in his recent Guide on Hero builds and set Zhed up as a hybrid SF + Interupts with some AoE for fun. It worked amazingly! Not only did he interupt crucial enemy spells, he was spamming SF when he needed to.
So then I set Dunkoro as healing with Power Return and Inspired Hex, Tahlkora as Protect with a few interupts, and now everythings going great.
Here is his Guide, where I got the basic idea.

Yes I have noticed this as well. I have been giving all my casters interrupt skills now. They are amazing with them!
Plus with the right skills it is also a great way to maintain their energy pool.

i guess this is expected seeing that the hero AI is very very good at interupting. infact, all AIs in the game is very good at interupts.
