I know RL bows have insane range over guildwars virtual bows :P dont forget to use barrage while you shoot some bows..Oh wait...nvm...hey i shot a arrow via compound bow straight into the sky and it came down like 3 minutes later

yeah well they is all complicated and stuff + im a skinny weak guy so i tried to pull my cousins compound and i could barely do it, but his was broken somehow so that might have something to do with it idk.

RE: RL archery

RL archery is so much fun, i almost qualified for junior olymipc session one yr... ive won a few badges and hats... its a lot of fun, but you do kinda have to have the muscle to pull back a few of those bows. i have a 80lb resistance compound bow, it gets a lil frustrating after a few rounds but its builds more on more muscle itself...

and whats really fun, is ive "robin hooded" a few arrows .. its always cool to do that... "when you shoot one arrow exactly or close to it through another arrow"

RE: RL archery

psh, im doing the same thing here, trying to get my arms back lol.. straight burn on top of burn for me tho, no substances...

but once you got the strength to draw the bow back comfortably youll have a great time.. its a lot of fun... and a challenge, i prefer long ranged targets, but also enjoy the ranges at certain places here that they got set up.. but yea, youll have fun with it

RE: RL archery

some in the triceps some biceps and i would work on forearms.. all around.. because you need to keep a balance for when you need to hold the bow up and keep it drawn waiting for the right shot... almost like sniping.. you dont really want to fire unless your sure on the target. but youll see it doesnt take much.. and a lot of practice will build muscle too and you will feel the muscles you need to work on

RE: RL archery

i like archery. id do more but i live in a more town kinda place so all we have for bows, without spendin like 200 quid on an expensive bow, is these goddamn ploanks of fibreglass with a string on em. you could check internet for bows. look for recurves and small recurves there quit good. longbows are very hard to pull and it can take months to build up the strength to oull a string and like years to learn too shoot the arrow roughly straight and not sideways.

might wanna work on plkexus and solar plexus too.
the awist area. helps overall balance of muscles and it has helped with recoil when ya tigthn em. but recoil tends to move ya forwards rather than backwards likem normal.

oh and a few tips.

1) do NOT close one eye. this ruins depth and position perception and makes you less accurate.

2) before you let loose arrow take a deep breath and just as you finish taking in the breath in that second loose the arrrow. the reason being that its at that second that your arms are most stable and shake least.

ive seen it done and ive almost done it a few times... and these are with carbon arrows.. ive split an arrow down the middle halfway down... ive skimmed the side so close its left a groove in my other arrow.. but i have seen someone do it, and they kept it up in a display case ever since.. it was cool to see...

RE: RL archery

If you go to Academy you cna buy beginner bows with non leathal tips. They have like a 10 pound draw. Hopefully you can pull that. Just go any sports store and they should have some. :-) or search the internet for places to buy one from and have them ship it to u. Just dont the the draw string hit your face it hurts not that i did that or anything.

*edit* added some stuff

WOO ARCHERY RULEZ!!
i did it once on vacation, happiest day of that vacation :D
then i got back home, wanted 2 get on archery, but we don't have an archery school here :'(
oh, and don't be to lazy with lifting weights. you really have to plan when to do it, and then REALLY do it. Because if you don't do it 1 time, you maybe won't do it later on and eventually you will stop lifting weights. try to motivate yourself ;)

RE: RL archery

Wow RL archery brings back memories. I used to compete as a kid. Brought a few trophies home. Go with a compound, start out at like 50 pounds or so. Get all the gear, the finger gaurds, the forearm gaurds. Dont buy razor tipped arrows. The technology in arrows was crazy 15 years ago, cant imagine what it is now.
