I'm done with it

I cán stand people flaming in all-chat to the opposing team while playing pvp. It's not the hard to turn of the all-chat and ignore it.

I sometimes can stand people flaming their own team ("OMG NOOBTEAM") in normal pvp. Although everyone has to learn how to pvp (which includes me ^^) there cán be total dumbasses who screw it up for you. You have to be friendly. But after an hour of losing I can understand you get a bit annoyed at your team.

But I cannot understand people flaming their own team in the Dragon Arena at the Dragon Festival!! What the...that game has nothing to do with knowing your skills, having a good build or whatever you need in regular pvp...It's just dodging projectiles and sending them out yourself. It's meant to be FUN. It's a game of fun at a festival, which is meant to be fun and where you are to have fun. And also to make fun with your friends and all the ppl around so you can have a weekend of fun in which you have a lot of fun. (you get the point?)
I just can't understand why ppl yell "NOOBTEAM" in the dragon arena...Do you réálly have to be so competitive in éverything you do in this game?

Do I after all-chat have to turn of the team-chat too?

Exactly, Dragon Arena applies a skill to you and gives you the same 8 skills on the skill bar to make everyone casters to tanks equal, i don't understand the flaming there BUT it gets annoying if your team gets killed alot and the other team then camps on you res shrine >.<

Single most reason i dont PvP anymore, dumbasses that yell at people over a stupid game, if you run out of my healing range of course i cant heal you then again i get yelled at for not healing someone thats not in my range, for killing tanks in 3 hits with my Rt/D im a cheater somehow. for chasing monks and slowing them down with my sin im a noob. i gave up on PvP a LOOOOOOOOOONG time ago

:/ anyone who flames in dragon arena must have a pretty strange way of looking at the world. flaming is depressing. sometimes in this world there are immature people who spoil things my boss, the tax man etc but there are some places you just dont expect to see, incredible. I propose a new weekend! If anet monitors the chat for spam then they may be able to look for words specific lines of text and pick out accounts that flame and put them in a cage so I could poke them with sharp sticks or a weekend where saying specific words acts like spitefull spirit in that they actually take damage when they say noob or something.

I so want to see this! I like the talking trash in the all chat for AB. Its fun. When it heads south into the n00b area, thats when it goes too far. But slight jearing back and forth, like "haha, maybe next time" or "you almost had me, I had like no energy left".

Now flaming your own team in the all chat is just dumb, maybe whisper the person at most if maybe they dont understand the game.

RE: I'm done with it

god I would really like my skillz title and do dragon arena but there ALWAYS are dumb idiots in my team that rush inside a group of 5 people to just kill one, which then gets whole team killed. the people that don't know how to dodge and attack at right timing = arghhh :@ hate em!

wish there was like a 1vs1 dragon arena place, or TA dragon arena...sigh

only thing that is really proper fun was the christmas snowball fight event, really loved it...

Ahhh, that's a shame.
We all have to learn this stuff someday, and I'm afraid that nobody will learn from you if you call them dumb idiots. If you really want to be independable, go try rollerbeetle racing.
Try to have fun, no flames on new people who want to try the event too.
peace out

For the ones that call other people ''noob'', I'm afraid it won't be that simple to just do something about it. It's part of a culture, the so-called ''Game-culture''. Everyone has to pwn everyone, and if you just make 1 single mistake, you're a noob or a fag or whatever. You can't just stop people from calling others those things.

Do you really only play dragon arena for the title? What about the fun and keeping the titles behind? Can't ppl just have some fun in this game...

No offence against the gamers title. but if you have played those festival games ONLY for those titles...hm...

RE: I'm done with it

Whenever I do PvP of any sort, I try to keep my team under control if possible. I typically only ever do ABs anymore, pretty much for the quick and easy amber and Faction, but before I set out with any group I make sure of a couple of things.

I tell them that I do not stay with groups that make use of derogatory terminology. Calling someone 'gay' and meaning 'stupid' is especially offensive to me, but going into the realm of overt bigotry and using the term 'fag' is absolutely inexcusable, and I will not stay quiet if anyone employs this term. I will also subsequently screenshot and send a report in to Anet if this is ever used in my presence.

Using the term 'noob' is pretty much an instant, brief way of communicating 'I have no legitimate way of communicating my inexplicable frustration, so I will somehow attempt to insult you by making myself look like an idiot'. I have met plenty of people who just picked up a game and can do better than some people who have played it for years, so attempting to insult someone by implying that they haven't played for long is a rather hollow exercise.

I furthermore tell them that it is not appropriate to camp an opposing team's teleporters when they have already lost. It is not appropriate to yell out jeers at opponents who have already lost, nor does it demonstrate maturity and a sense of good playership.

I do not team with 'Touch Rangers' (which Anet for some reason still have done nothing about) because they drain the fun out of PvP as quickly as they drain their opponents' lives; they're not an original build, it's just something you found on the internet, and it's not fun or challenging to go up against such a cookie-cutter character. Have some originality. That's what makes PvP fun, trying your own original build out against original builds that others have made, seeing what their strengths and weaknesses are, and learning from the experience.

Personally I am quick to whisper to opponents who have fairly and skillfully fought against me. I'm always impressed by people who show ingenuity and innovative originality with their builds, as long as they are good players too.

But I don't tolerate childish teasing and will speak out against it. One team I was on had a ranger who said she thought I was 'taking it too serious' by requesting she not use a cookie-cutter touch build, by telling them to please not camp the teleporters, and by trying to encourage good behavior and discourage bad. But personally, I deal with enough stupidity and inanity outside of Guild Wars; I don't want to sign on my favorite game to get hit with that again. I play to escape from that.

Some people say 'why say anything? It doesn't do any good', but that isn't true. You never really know, your words might really change someone's mind. And to boot, being complacent and saying 'c'est la vie' never changed a thing. Of course they won't behave if nobody ever speaks up against their bad behavior. But if more and more people refuse to stand for it, eventually they are likely to put it to consideration if they have half a brain.

Sorry to go on so long, but I do feel your pain in this. I have seen so many incredibly stupid and immature people in PvP, which is why I rarely engage in it, even ABs. Apparently some people have never heard of 'griefing', which is what this usually tends to amount to. They're usually fundamentally unhappy people who get their happiness by bringing others down. What a miserable way to do things! Perhaps by example we can show that it's much more rewarding to get happiness through sharing it with others, instead.

At least, that's my take on it. :)

Um woah....? Someone is taking this topic a little too serious......0_o. And just remeber, its fine to report someone, put no one likes ppl that report other ppl for every little thing to make themselves feel like they are in control. besides, you would have to report about 50,000 ppl each day, b/c i see the F-Bomb and a host of other words dropped in my presence all the time. But if it doesnt involve me....who cares? If the argument is not with you, just turn off your chat and let it be. Even if it is one of your teamates, Im sure they can handle themselves, and can repot if they want too. Im not beaing mean, but thats my take. Im sure everyone else understands my view on this. Oh.....and b4 you report someone....make sure its not you who started it. You stated tht you tell ppl not to tun cookie cutter builds and what not.....no one likes to be told what to do, and just because your the adult does not nessacarilly mean that you can controll kids in-game, like you might like to control them IRL. Srry about all this ranting, but I think ppl that do this is a big problem, b/c ppl arguing more than likey subsides by itself, and if you dont want to see any of that.........PUT ON THE CHAT FILTER...or TURN OFF YOUR CHAT. not that hard is it? I dunno..

Rant Over

P.S. Great signature ^_^
