| how the heck do I rune her? |
|
|
|
I recently decided to spend some time again with my monk after 6 months. But when I took a closer look at her armor I burst out in laughter. She's my first char and when I runed her I didn't understand "stacking" yet ^^
So I'm runing her overnew, but I still don't know what rune combination I should use.
I would mainly like to play as a smiter (heroes don't complain about a monk who's smiting instead of healing). And sometimes as a healer when I'm in the mood ^^
I started with this:
*headpiece - healing prayers +1 and rune of healing prayers +2
**a 2nd headpiece for the smiting build - smiting prayers +1 and rune of smiting prayers +2
*chest - rune of health +41
*gloves - rune of divine favor +1
(I haven't got money to spend on superior runes and I don't intend to use it either when I would have money.)
But then I got stuck. What runes should I put in legs and what kind of insignia's should I use?
I'd think about two runes of energy +2 and Survivor insignia's. But do I still have enough energy then?
Or should I otherwise use Radaint insignia's for the energy? But what with the health then? :D
Please give me some advice about monks and their runes :)
edit: oh yeah, for the moment I haven't got a decent staff yet. Any tips about those too please? ^^

well if your going to go for the smiting setup i would suggest:
Head - max AL headpiece of smiting with a minor smiting rune
Chest - max AL chest piece with surviour insig, major vigor and if you want a major smite rune
Arms - max AL arm piece with rune of attunement (energy +2)
Legs - max AL leg piece with surviour insig and whatever minor rune you want
Feet - max AL foot piece again with whatever minor rune you require.
I only play smiter when farming so therefore this is just basically the same as what I run on my healer except changed to smiting. The health loss from major smiting/healing or w.e is made up with the surviour insig and major vigor so once your runed and weaponed up your health should be at a decent level and you shouldnt really have any problems :) hope this helped
I believe what doesnt kill you only makes you STRANGER!!?

I think you talking about PvE monk :P?
Mine has these runes:
All Riadent for the energy,
headpeace +1 Sup +3 for every attribute I use
Chest Minor Divine Favor
Gloves Major Vigor
Legs Attument
Feet Vittea
For weapons I use Kephets Refure for Prot
Soulstone + (Sword/Axe/Spear) +5e + Fortitude for Healing Prayers and Divine Favor

yeah i agree, but for my personal advise, i would only go smiter for pvp, it can be incredibly effective in pve, but if you want a monk in your party for pve, u automatically asume that it's either a prot or healing monk of some kind.
obviously it is your own personal choice in what you do with your monk, but im just sharing my opinions ^.^

thanks, I might try those things out :)
and yes it's a pve monk
I'm trying to reach an average health of 500 and an average energy of 45-50.
My ranger's Tahlkora has about 600hp and uses glyph of lesser energy, maybe i should try that build too^^ and it works, she heals, her energy stays up and she stays alive...

yes I know, but that's why I said that heroes don't complain about a smiting monk ^^ I only plan to use the smiting build when I'm playing with heroes n hench. And I gave up on PUG's.

off topic but i used max healing rune and then all the other att. with minor runes and it's easier on yourself to make a party with 1 monk hero 1 ele hero 1 MM 2 monk henches 1 fighter and 1 holy hench in NF (the holy hench can be substituted with something else in another campaign)
PvE monks ALWAYS bring Signet of Rejuvination!!!!! lol

I always go Smite when I am alone with heroes/hench, it's much easier than trying to get them targeted and attacking if you're trying to Heal/Prot or constantly switching targets.
This how I am geared:
Smite headpiece with Sup Smite Rune
Survivor Insignias on Chest and Legs
Radiant Signias on all other pieces
Superior Vigor Rune, Attunements/Vitaes
Weapon of Choice: Scourgewind's Branch- love the +1/20% and Health. My second monk has a Tyrian shield with +1 Smite/20% which is also ideal, albeit extremely rare.
That puts me at 510 health even with the Sup Rune and around 45+ energy. My build of choice doesn't require a lot of energy so it works for me.
I don't use high DF while using my hero/hench Smiting build as I don't use targetable enchantments while doing this- again, easier to get heroes/hench targeted on mobs that you are attacking without switching targets. I usually will go /Me and max out Inspiration for Mantra of Incriptions, so all my Smite/Interrupt Signets recharge much faster.
I do have a friend who also makes his monk a pure attacker when he is with heroes/hench, although- because he is /E- he goes fire nuker (I gave his monk an Exuro's once, hehe) :-P
The Snow Palace {Snow} My home on Guild Wars
All level 20's, most have completed all three campaigns:
Velise Snowstorm, Ele ~ Mei Jin Hua, Monk ~ Olive Wildthorne, Ranger
Juniper Deathberry, Necro ~ Sanjali Rumi, Ritualist ~ Jade Shadowfyre, Assassin
Jacqueline Scion, Mesmer ~ Enkildil Anastas, Warrior ~ Khaya Gibran, Dervish
Flora de Ochun, Paragon ~ Alisande Starslight, Monk ~ Lilly Orinoco, Ele

thanks a lot for all the tips everyone :)
the armor and weapons are starting to sort themselves out now. For weps I use the Factions endgame Wayward wand (smiting ofcourse) en the Straw Effigy (also smiting, good guess ^^). It works well enough, I'm not going to spend more money on weapons.
and my build is also getting in shape ^^
For the moment I use this
*Signet of Judgement
*Bane Signet
*Spear of Light
*Judge's Insight (to cast on the party melee fighters and rangers) OR Signet of Rage (if I would encounter lots of adren based enemies or don't care about buffing my teammates and just wanna do dmg myself :p)
*Mantra of Inions (for faster signet recharge)
*Smite Hex
*Ether Feast (for self-heal)
*Res
I'm not sure yet about the self heal skill. And this is only one build. I still want to make other and totally different ones.
