I'm planning on upgrading my computer to run more advanced games like the new Guild Wars 2 that will come out in the future and current games like Oblivion.
I looked up what my video cards my computer can use and of course its Ati and Nvida. I don't know which is better.
So please post which you think is better and include why you think its better.
Thanks for you help.

they have come pretty close to each other but traditionally and still true, nvidia cards handle games that use OpenGL technology better and ATI cards do Direct3D better... check the games you play and see what they use and use that as a factor in your purchase.. although these days it really doesnt matter
Personal experience: I have had much better luck with ATI cards (in terms of them dying) + they update their drivers much more often

Im like balian, personally, i like ATI cards more. I used to have an Nvidia GeForce 4 and Upgraded to an ATI Radeon 9550, and i have to say, i have enjoyed the ammount of not crap i get from the ATI compared to the Nvidia.

i don't look at the brand. both Nvidia and ATI make very nice cards.
i go by performance so thats why i anyways go to tomshardware.com cuz they do all the reviews and benchmarks of this kind of stuff. to make sure you get the best bang for your buck, check them out.
here's the VGA benchmarks for summer 2007:

I mean I seem to enjoy the performance with ATi Cards more for some reason.
I think it's that I have used them more than Nvida cards and I guess I put a little more trust in the company.
Their software and hardware are great!
Price wise, you could get a good ATi card for less money than the same Nvida card.
I also enjoy that their graphic cards have a longer longevity than the Nvida cards.
If you want a bit more performance also, pick a Crossfire ready motherboard to get the most longevity.
I feel that SLI doesn't do as well.

I used to be an ati fanboy, but then my computer died and they didn't have any DX10 cards out so i went with nVidia. Gotta be honest, it performs much better.
