okay, some people get disconnected more lately.
my whole computer shuts down, first my screen of GW freezes followed by a black screen and my computer shuts down.
This only happens when i play GW, not all the time though. sometimes it does, sometimes it don't.
now i'm scared to go on GW, first i always thought like this: okay i feel like GW *goes on GW*
now it's like: okay i feel like GW *doesn't go on GW*
any help? :'(

Monitor your computer temperature if possible (some motherboards support that; some dont) it almost looks like an emercency shutdown which most commonly happens when your computer reaches critical temperatures (around 80 degree Celcius.

I had that problem before. I opened up the case and discovered that the fan and cooling fins on the processor were clogged with dirt, so it was overheating and shutting down. I cleaned it up and was fine after that.

Just to firm up what it might be I had the same problem and just like IamHighVoltage when I cleaned out the processor fan adn heat sink it went away. As suggested above monitor your CPU temp if possible and if you see it a lot higher then normal check for dirt. Good luck

Okay i tried reinstalling, now i'm trying to get on but it needs to load veeeeeeeeery long.
so i used Ctrl+Alt+Delete to check my CPU usage, reaching heights of 100% and depths of 10%.
GW obviously uses the most, going from 2% to 90% (average now is 50%)
Firefox uses around 2%, and msn around 5%, these are the things i have on atm.
i also use NOD32 (no it's not scanning, i'm not that dumb :P)
i just bought a new PSU for my computer, 370WATT and it says low usage.
My computer exploded last time (well the PSU) and i don't want to happen it again, i recently cleaned the whole computer.
one last question: where can i see the heat my computer generates?

I happened once to me while I was in Gyala, while I was able to reconnect they called me a leecher cuz i reconnected right where the SPOILER ALERT Lux and Kurz come together.(may seem like a dumb spoiler but Ive seen peeps that have beat all but Cantha, there sins and rits went straight to Kaineng after Zen Daijun) Anyway back on topic I just went to Office Depot and boght a bottle of canned air and opened my computer and sprayed it around, it has never worked better.
EDIT: You cant see the heat just feel the top of your computer unit. You'll know if its hot

To see the comps temperature you first have to know what manufacturer you have for you M-board. Most have small programs that you can install that monitor the temp. Check the M-board cd-rom; it might have come along with the package :)

If you're wanting to monitor you're computer's temperature, you can download a free trail version of SensorsView Pro here.
| QUOTE | | SensorsView is a utility, that monitors the temperature of your CPU, northbridge, motherboard, VGA and hard disks, as well as voltages and fan speeds (as supported by your motherboard). It can alert you if the values reach a critical level, and also provide a complete overview of the measurements. Version 3.1 build 3061 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes. |
You can probably get other programs which do a similar job too quite easily - I found this from a quick search on Download.com.
Hope it helps.

i don't know what a good temperature for a computer is
but SensorsView (that program) says it's 57'C (average, sometimes going up to 59'C)
=.EdiT.= This is the CPU, any tips of where to look at?
+cred for the one that really helps me ^^

Definately monitor your temps, and watch the case inside for fans that could be going bad.
Was the power supply working before your system started crashing during GW? How new is your rig, and have you made any high power modifications such as new video card or something like that?
A 370w power supply really isn't going to do you much good on a gaming system these days. Most of the time you won't even be able to start your PC up completely if the power isn't sufficient, but sometimes internet and windows will run fine. Once you start up a system hog game ,however, your system will just shut down.
Please put up your system specs and any recent changes to the inside of the case. ie: On your new PSU, how many watts was your old one compared to the new?
Good luck.

Same thing happened with me, and it was an overheating problem. Like some posters said the pc automatically shuts down, a fe tips that can help is.
1. Clean the inside of PC, especially thick dust and stuff and especially if the PC is on or close to the floor.
2. Check fans and stuff.
3. Make sure the room you have your PC in has a cool temperature, you can always remove one of the side panels from your PC and use a fan facing the inside of the PC, if AC is unavailable.

my power supply was working great, i could go on AMP, GW, let iTunes play music, be on msn without my computer breaking a sweat. Now for the last 2 days it started, then my computer shuts down. i can't seem to find the date this PSU is made, but 2 weeks ago i went to the store and got a new one, the salesman recommended it. And i didn't make any other changes to my computer, only the new PSU.
My old PSU was 250 Watt and worked fine, but there was a factory problem thingy of some sort which caused it to explode :|

could that be the matter, i have the smallest room of the house, it's like: 1 person bed, desk and a shelf. and my computer is, well kinda cropped up in this room. And it's veeeeery warm these days in holland, 2 bad i can't face my fan to my computer, don't have the space for that xD (i'm sitting on my bed btw, my bed is my chair for the computer)
i think that's the problem...

I understand you put in a new PSU in your excisting system. Maybe when your old PSU 'exploded' more was damaged... computers are and stay delicate electronics... I hope thats not the case though... but your motherboard for instance could have been overheated partially and maybe some connections have been damaged.

yah it really exploded, but only the PSU, i'm rather sure of it. other people are to. But it's very warm these days, and i have a small room so i think that's the problem. I now play GW in windowed mode and no problem yet ^^

I'd like to just chime in here and say that it might not be any of those things. Sometimes GW has problems with freezing or crashing that aren't related to CPU heat or anything of the sort. After encountering problems a few months back, I will say that now the problems are lesser, but they're not entirely gone, and at times that can be the fault of the program, not the hardware.
It might also be something as simple as a program clash with another piece of software that you've added, especially if you've been dealing with drivers. However, my problems never had a black screen. In any case, don't feel desperate if you aren't able to get results by trying to keep the system cool. It doesn't always spring from system temperature. But I do wish you luck in finding what it is and, hopefully, eliminating it.

57C is a little high for CPU temp. What processor are you running and what heatsink/fan are you running? The heatsink and fan might be stock/ Also do you have other case fans?
To get a good flow of air, install a fan at the rear or your case blowing out. This will keep air circulating inside your case.

1. thoroughly clean inside your computer with canned air and a vacume (beware of static shock when using the vaccume, don't get it too close to components use it to clean whatever the canned air blows out)
2. Check the web for updated drivers for all components of your computer specially the video card.
3. Look for some kind of windows stress program (google it), run it and see if the computer crashes, the log should tell you what caused the crash
goood luck

My mac while running Windows XP under bootcamp sometimes locks up in guildwars and has a "kernel panic" which is common among macs, but its been happening too much lately...
It could be my RAM going.. dunno but Where do i find a Driver for an ATI Mobility Radeon x1600 256 MB? If i update that i wonder if it will stop freezing up? I know its only found in Notebooks, but iMacs USE notebook technology..

I opened the side of my pc, and my GW doesn't crash anymore, and the temperature can go from 42'C to 51'C so i hope that's good.

I guess i maybe need a new fan, the temperature now is around 53'C, and i read at other forums that normal is like 36'C (or something around that)
I just use a fan which was in the PC when i bought it, these are pretty regular. So i hope i can get a better cooling ^^

Hmm, 56 degrees probably only takes off a bit of life from the PC, processors wont melt that easily, plus if they go too high the PC just shuts down.
I got a good airflow, 7 fans now:
1 CPU
1 PSU
2 80 MM fans in rear (sucking from inside)
1 Self-installed CPU fan blowing against Passive GPU (used to be 80-90 degrees in GW's running for a few hours, now only 58 at max.
2 fans in one coolsink on HDD
Think that'll do for now, the frontside has no fans, holding your hand infront makes it getting sucked in mildly, that's some good airflow :P
Generally inside it'll be lower then 40 degrees, the only hot spots being the actual ''inside'' temp of the main processing hearts E.G CPU & GPU.

wouldn't recommend leaving the side of your computer like that... find the source of the problem and fix it.. bandaiding it = not a good idea :)
