Okay, so here it is. *drumroll*
How 'worth it' are the patron powers?
Like, would I .. I mean my friend.. (Yah, that's it!) be a retarded monkey if I.. I mean he.. *cough* decided not to take a patron power pool? He's a total newb.. So.. ya know.. he thought this might work.
Yah, so basicly, are the patron powers SO MUCH better than the regular ones that 'he' would be a fool not to get them?

Patron powers are good for filling in gaps in your build (somewhat). Like on my brute its givien him some range attacks to take out those baddies running with a teeny bit of health left.
But they Aren't nessacary to take, you could just take some power pools to fiddle with in those last levels to 50.

I see, thanks for the info.
I'm still not sure what I want to do.. First high level character and all.. Trial and Error may be the way to go I suppose.

Good thing is...you should have at least 1 free Respec to change anything you don't like :)
But as stated previously, you don't need the PPPs, they are there to help fill the gaps.
All but the MMs get a little pet to follow you around and be a meat shield with. I will say, they can help in a bind against a EB and the such though or in a thick crowd (anything to take some attention from you, even if it is only momentarily), and seeing how I solo a lot, every little bit helps.

Myeah, my Stalker has a Mu Adept and he is great.
However, my Brute is about to hit 40 and I'm not going to grab the Striker with him. He'd be worthless for this guy ;)

Picking the right powers and correct slotting, 'walking' is just as effective as any other travel power, my Scrapper (Katana/SR, classic) has Sprint slotted with full Celerity IOs, giving him stealth when turning it on. 2 slotted Swift and Quickness from SR with running spd, and Combat Jumping and Hurdle slotted with jump if pretty effective, its like half ss/sj, but perma, and makes you pinball around in 1o1 pvp

I've never been one of those people who fine tunes everything or makes the 'best spec' characters.. (Bleh Warcraft reference..)
I think the travel powers add a fantastic element to the game that seems to be unique to CoX. I can see how some would decide not to take them in favor of other powers, but for me it's just as exciting to go bounding from rooftop to rooftop as it is to solo elite bosses and the like.
