| Help me need help with fraps!!!!!!! |

hi
i just got the registered version of fraps, i then installed it and then wanted to start to make a movie. I recorded all of a sudden though my whole game freezes i just do not know why that happens i have tried Guild wars, and i tryed it in Day of Defeat source, and counterstrike source same thing happens the game freezes and i can only close the game to get away from it. Could you maybe know what happend??

Memory: 2046MB RAM
Hard Drive: 629 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS
Monitor: PnP-Monitor (Standard)
Sound Card: Lautsprecher (Creative SB X-Fi)
Speakers/Headphones:
Keyboard: USB-Root-Hub
Mouse: USB-Root-Hub
Mouse Surface:
Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium
and the fraps version is 2.9.1
so the newest version which should work with Vista!!

Dont know, Fraps works fine for me, well, if its compatible with Vista it should be alright... can't help you here, maybe look at their FAQ/Forums?

I have had a similar problem with fraps myself. If I close fraps while the GW is still active the game just crashes. I have not investigated further but just been living with it and not closing fraps down while in game.
Other problem I have seen with fraps is after loading the saved files into adobe pro the captures still look grainy.

I can't tell you what's wrong, but when I first got Fraps, there were those small bugs that were sorta annoying.
But since then, my Dad changed some of the code in Fraps and it works perfectly for me. Instead of Gigs of video, now it's just a few hundred Megs, without much loss in quality.
I would only suggest that you don't close it while your game is still running. And when you view your videos, does it crash?

it does record, it just frezzes the game but fraps countinues to film even when the game is frozen. the wierd thing is that this only happens when i am playing a game not when i film the desktop????

Ced 14, you signature has a big typo, dunno if thats on purpose, Sollders it says. Should be Soldiers?
No idea on the fraps thing, mine's purrin like a kitten so to speak.

im not 100% positive but to me it seems that fraps wich was made for XP converted to be conpatable for vista (which you are using) does not record xp games converted for vista (ie. DoD, CSS, GW ect)

edit: when i say "converted games" btw i dont mean uve got something to convert them to vista i mean like they are actually vista games but were XP games made into Vista by there makers

Well i sent a message to Fraps! lets see what they write back? about the typo it is a "i" it just looks like a "l"

Thanks guys for the replies i fixed it now! i had to install a new graphic driver !!!
now i have one more questions, when i look at films which ppl make and in the movie they film part of the scene in between the game you now like the story of ascolon skip scene where they explain what happens to ascolon there the take away the black bars at the bottom and the top

When they edit the footage they will just move the movieclip location on the page so that the black bars are off the visible area, if that makes sense.

Windows Movie Maker is actually half decent, comes free with windows XP, I'd assume also with Vista. If not try a google for it, surely microsoft must have made at least some stuff compatible with vista :P
If you have access to Adobe Premiere/Adobe Aftereffects they're worth using, happens to be two programs that I have open atm, editing my own short film for uni. They do require lisences though.
I'm sure there's other free movie editing software, but you can't go too far wrong with windows movie maker :P
