I hated my paragon so i made a perma pre char...
I remember someone with a name back a year ago in pre, this was a year ago, when i made my chara yesterday, that SAME name was avalable, as i play i get a PM from some weird dude askin who i was, now my question is, if they are mad i stole their name, can they report me for stealing their name even tho it was avalable? Because the person obvisoly deleted their chara, so the name was avalable...

The name is yours for the taking ^^
athough, if they do want their name back you could be a nice guy and let them have it. But long as you didn't intend on taking there name (like you knew they were remaking) then I'd say keep it if you want it.

Unless you're impersonating the person with the same name to scam gold/items or whatnot, I don't think it's bannable (sp?).

no they can't ....i saw this uber cool name..and sum1 was deleting it, 2 mins after that i took it and he tried to report me for ''stealing his name'' (he got it from Seventh Sanctum.com anyway) so it's no problem

always been
but when i want an other prof.
i have to delete him
once i lost him someone took it
i asked his to give it back so he did
but if he didn't well i had to find an new oneXD
he can't do anything to you

Im not trying to impersonate anyone, i just wanted the name, and if one of his old friends messaged me or something sayin hi "person's name" ill just say this isnt them and they must have deleted..
If this guy has a big problem and ends up reportign me and ane has a problem, well they have every right to make me change my name, i would change it, dont they use the name change thing if ur name is "inappropriate"?

When nightfall came out i made a character named The Spearman deleted it to make new one tomorrow and then it was taken. :'(

lol, i had a char named Pre Searing, long been deleted...since then...dunno if anyone took it, ill check..

the name is reserved for 30 minutes after you delete the character. after that the name is free game. =P

No fear, as others have said, if the name was available then it is free for grabs, he cannot realistically report you for 'stealing' a name that was available to use.
A somewhat similar thing happened to me once, I made a character and chose a named I liked. A few days later I started getting random PMs from people I didn't know but who thought they knew me (one even started telling me something posted on my Myspace...and I don't even have an account on Myspace...) Apparently a player before me had the name, but must have deleted the character and stopped playing because every stranger who PMed me said they hadn't seen me on in months (I play almost daily). Luckily the person apparently had a good reputation and I didn't get any vile curse-laden PMs :-P

i once made a necro named: This Is Madness (after that 300 movie)
Within a day i got barrages of people asking me for my assa build, my rank, and if i could help them with PvP, even though i havent stepped into that scene anytime during that month... it appeared we had someone else with my name, just an extra (or one less) S.
I deleted the char later as i didnt find the name very likable, but i do must say i love the way some people will start talking to you when you tell em your char's a necro, not an assa.

Off-topic, but to the original poster...
I just recalled that you said Perma-Pre character. Don't know if you are aware of this already, but some player is dragging Perma-Pres out of Pre for kicks. I guess he invites you under the pretext of opening the gate or something, then runs over to Tydus and starts the mission. Just an FYI.

YEP, thats exactly what the person did, they said they were new and just bought the game within the hour and needed help, funny thing was, i didn't know someone who just bought the game within the hour could be in a guild and have "Kurzick Supporter" as a title

Well if they read the manual I can understad the guild but two things about the title thats like hard to get in a hour and its in Facts not Proph(plz don' call me Cpt. Obvious)
But as to ur name dillema I looked all over the support page and couldnt find any loophole wher he could report you with reason.

Yea i think the name thing is ok the person that might have been the old owner, backed down when i went into DND for a while.
And i find it funny to see Kurz/Lux Supporters or wha not Say there BRAND new to the game and wanna join ur party...so there are more post-draggers then u think out there...all looking to hurt people's hard work!
