Favor of the Gods Changes
To ensure that all territories share in the Favor of the Gods together, we have made several modifications to the Favor system.
* The Favor of the Gods has been changed from a territory-based PvP reward system to a globally based PvE reward system.
* Players can now earn world favor in one hour blocks. These blocks are earned when 20 individuals have achieved the maximum rank in several specific titles. Players who obtain maximum rank in these titles while the world holds favor will extend the one hour block by an additional 3 minutes.
* The following maximum level title tracks count toward achieving Favor of the Gods: Survivor, Defender of Ascalon, Legendary Cartographer, Legendary Guardian, Legendary Skill Hunter, Legendary Vanquisher, Sunspear, Lightbringer, Kurzick, Luxon, Lucky, Unlucky, Gamer, Drunkard, Treasure Hunter, Wisdom, Sweet Tooth, Hero, Gladiator, Champion, and Commander.
* Once an individual has achieved the maximum rank of one of the titles mentioned above, players in specific outposts (see below) will receive a message informing them how close the world is to receiving the gods' favor, which title was achieved, and the name of the player who achieved it. The outposts that will broadcast this message include: Temple of the Ages, Zin Ku Corridor, Chantry of Secrets, Lion’s Arch, Kaineng Center, Kamadan, and the Great Temple of Balthazar.
* When the world holds the Favor of the Gods, players can type /favor to display the length of time left before the Favor of the Gods expires. Typing this command when the world does not have the gods' favor displays how many more players must achieve the maximum rank in a title before the world once again earns favor.
* The Hall of Heroes message no longer references the Favor of the Gods. |
urm correct me if i am wrong but.
Wasnt the favor of the gods meant to be focused on the hall of the heroes BECAUSE the teams are fighting over teh favor of the gods .
This is stated in every manual that the gods take delight in watching them do battle and give them the FAVOR.
This breaks a fundamental part of guildwars lore.
this will also make HA pointless as they are playing for nothing now as they get nothing in return, yeah they get fame WOW.
this has really annoyed me cause wen titles where first introduced they said they would affect anything in-game and would be for show only, wel people started saying they should do something ie treasure hunter etc yea thats understandable but the way they now affect entire regions and who has favor this is just wrong.neds to be put back tbh.
it breaks the whole reason of AH and the mists whoever was in charge of this update should be shot tbh a major piece of lore broken =[

im sure they are even more snipets of info how fame is connected to the hall of heroes.
its a shame to see a vital part of lore gone like that
titles should not have an effect on favor.
and yes they probably changed it because a certain terotory not getting favor but the team/terrotory has worked hard to get where they are to hold the hall and not gain anything in return for them or their terrotary , yeah a chest with a few items in wow..
also im not a pvp player either i think it isut unfair on the people that have worked to get there and majorly ruins lore , which guidlwars does lack quite abit of =[
need to sort out anet .

People who do HA and HoH only do it for the chest at the end anyway, not for favor. doesnt effect it at all

totally agree. now people can grind for favour instead! :P
edit: but more importantly the lore is broken! the underlying structure of GW!

True, people who HA/HoH spend their time there, and not in UW/FoW anyway, so favor doesn't affect them...and people who spend time UW/FoW can now do something in order to get favor and go there, instead just waiting for a PvP team in their territory win halls.

yeah they do but it is a big part of guildwars lore and titles shouldnt affect it , from gameplay angle it does matter at alls ,but its broken a big part of guildawrs lore with this change , im sure they could have been better of with fixin other stuff and adding new content than changing things which are not needed to be changed.

I get your point, but isn't it better to improve the game itself and not just stick to the lore and "sacrifice" possible improvements of gameplay?

yup , by changing the favor they have done two things
(1) changed something which didnt need to be changed
(2) wasnt time on it which they could have spent on things actualy worth doing like bug fixes / spending more time working on EOTN.
yeah would be better to improve the game but they messed with something they didnt need to .

if you think about it what is the point of making a reward to a PVP battle a PVE one? it makes no sense really. the original guild wars war was written over two years ago i'm sure that there are other discrepancies in it other than that. IMO it makes more sense to have a high end PVE reward be for something PVE oriented because other than in a few places the pvp and pve aspects of gw are separate and should stay that way.
Im not saying to either pick one or the other to play i'm just saying that they both have their own niches and other than AB PVP and PVE never really have been connected. Anet could have mashed them both together but they chose to keep them separate for a reason.

First off I'm not very concerned with the lore of GW but you should never mess with the story of a game in such a drastic way as they have here. What they should have done is amended the story to fit title achievements into controlling favor. They should have made it so that gaining a title would be the same as winning in HA. Think of it as a title achiever being rewarded by the gods or something like that. Now from what has been said here players who battle in HA don't do it for favor and lets face it you can't be in 2 places at once so that makes sense. I think HA should have a lot more meaning to it other than a chest and some fame. If one continent can't put better teams on the virtual battlefield then they don't deserve favor unless of course they have some hardcore pve players gaining titles. Also, if anyone is wondering I play on the American server and am quite fine with waiting till late at night to take advantage of favor.

While I prefer the way it is now because now, the pve player effects access to a pve area.
That said, i didn't have a problem with the way it was, since the advent of the scrolls. Having favor meant that it saved you 1.5K. So you could either spend 1K if you had favor, or spend 2.5K (or so) get a scroll and go anyway.

Ummm im srry isn't this a good thing? We will constantly have favor from now on. Just a few hours ago I saw it say we haev 555 minutes of favor left. Thats more than 9 hours. Your complaining cuz it doesn't fit? Come on this is a gift. Doesn't effect me anyway, I never go to UW/FoW.

Tbh, this is one of the better updates. This is good for all territorys for one reason, its constant, and doesnt end. if you realize how many people play GW, you can think of how many are also maxing titles. This allows a lot of favor, and the lore hasnt stopped, the gods are happy with you, and give you favor as your reward! this can be quicker than a match in HoH too, ive seen like 20 people max a title in 5 minutes=wow. anyway, great update, i hope it stays for good. ( Taiwan, Japan, and America dont have to spend extra cash to go to UW/FoW now too, although, i think they stink overall as farming spots :p )

Peolpe Do go to UW/FoW even though they PvP.
Why?
You see alot of peolpe who are a decent rank in PvP wearing FoW Armour. Therefore they either farm for the set or they get lucky with the chest at the end.
It was better when it was PvP based because your name would be broadcasted over the server '
saying '_____ Has Won a Battle Blah Blah Blah'
Now you dont get broadcasted and its a simple message and peolpe dont acknowledge the teams that win the Halls because
they arnt winning the halls for anything.
Plus, I hate standing in LA or w.e and getting spammed down by all the titles. To put it bluntly , I dont care what people get :S
And thats not in a nasty way at all. =/

Well as far a the Lore goes not everyone has the manual cause they may have paid for the game online instead of getting it at a store.
Then the fact of a title not being as impressive as winning HoH is all in the eye of the player. Sure the ones that win are good PvP players and I'm impressed by their ability to win but in the same token its no small task to max a title cause it takes time or money or both to do them. I'm impressed by both equally as I'm not in a guild thats big enough or into PvP enough to win HoH nor do I have any titles maxed even though I have been working towards it.
As far as saying one has more skill involved than the other to make it more impressive well thats not entirely 100% correct as even the best players in the world have off days when things just don't go right.
I see what your saying that winning HoH is more impressive but thats only opinion based and besides the people still get their glory for their guild is still broad casted as winning. Just now so are other achievements and now PvE affects PvE and not PvP affecting PvE.

I think this is more fair to Non-Europe servers (europe did have favor most of the time >_>)
Now players all over the world get favor at same time, maybe international districts in ToA, Zin ku Corridors and Chantry of Secrets will have more people now?

not everyone cause there are still several people including myself that thinks the FOW armors are on the ugly side compared to other armors.

Well, there's a good side and a bad side about it...people who can't solo UW/FoW (for what reason ever) will be happy about dropping ecto/shard prices...so ANet made those happy. On the other side, the people selling ectos won't like it...but you can never satisfy everyone at once. And I doubt everyone wants FoW armor, I don't get it cause I didn't find any FoW armor yet for any class whose looks justify its price...

Personally I think FoW armor does not look as prestiege as it is supposed too. The only good FoW is thre ritualist. Even the warrior one looks like crap I think primeval should have been the prestiege armor, scince it looks way better than FoW IMO...i dunno...thats just what I think.

This is my opinion on it.
I don't care about the storyline or the "lore". I just want to be able to go to FoW or UW when i can, which under the now "old" system was very very rare for me. Between work, kids, and whatever else my play time is very limited. So with that being said, I like the "new" system. I hope it remains the way it is. Anet made a good decision in doing this.

wow, 3 ppl just quoted me =P but yea, i hate the fow armor to, but the warr, ele, and rit does look good, but still, they could atleast not make it as long or put a shorter limit or something, cuz the way it is now we always have favor, and that just kill the purpose for alot of stuff, especialy the lore like people have said, so now it seems like the gods are just lazy

well lets not forget this is but a game and which its sole purpose is to be fun. The heck with the Lore in the manual the Lore doesn't add or take away from the fun of the game, this change makes it more fun for more people which is better for the game.

i wish they never made this update.It take half the fun away from HA and the prices of ecto and other stuff uw/fow related will drop dramiticly (or however you spell it)
