For Pc I would strongly advice
Pay:
Civilization 4 (and possibly the expansion Warlords ).
Free:
Mount&Blade (Lvl 6 limit, but that can be ignored with the very good mods who are avaible for it)

I picked up Robotech: Battlecry for PS2 this weekend. It's fun if you're a fan of the show.
I've also got a DS. Transformers:Decepticons is cool. I'm also playing A Link to the Past (Advance game, but works in DS)
And when I've got my daughter, getting my butt handed to me at Mario Kart DS is always fun...
