Many years ago a story was started, a story that brought forth a wide range of imagination that spread across the universe. This story evolved overtime to become a legend which created a massive cult following. This legend is Stargate and Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment along with MGM Interactive is bringing the gate to life in the MMO world.
Stargate Worlds is a Massive Multiplayer Online Game that takes place in an amazing 3D world replicated from the TV series.
Powered by the Unreal 3.0 engine Stargate will take your imagination to the extreme allowing travel across the universe using none other then the Stargates themselves.
SW has been in pre-production for awhile but is now going at full pace with hopes of hitting the market in 2008.
In order to provide fans of the series with the most real experience possible, Stargate SG-1 show producers Brad Wright and Robert Cooper are amongst the team bringing the game to life.
Although the flow of information involving SW is not at full speed, there are a few details to shed some light on. Known at the moment is that SW will offer a squad-based game play system and will allow players to create characters on the side of Stargate Command and System Lords side.
Class options will consist of nine choices; Research, Combat Marine, Medical, Scientific, Diplomatic, Engineering, Archeological, and Exploration. Players will have four technology skill trees to focus on, which include biology, engineering, physics and electronics.
There will be dozens of planets to visit, ranging from ones you may already know and some original planets created for the game. Also there will be many different enemies in the game, and if you watched the show you will recognize almost all of them.

There were rumors that the game was set to follow alongside of the TV show but will now focus on events during seasons three, four, five, six, seven and eight. Writers intend on tying the game into the show as much as possible. Also reflected in the games storyline are the two upcoming straight to DVD movie releases of Stargate.
Where most MMO’s focus on leveling over what can be a long period of time, Stargate Worlds will open up the ability to level quickly so players can both explore and enjoy SW’s PvP system. A large portion of the game will be locating different Stargates and combat but also introduced are many puzzles which are a bit out of the norm for an MMOG. Stargate Worlds will offer unique technology based weapons as well as the ability to craft new weapons and enhancments to strengthen your character.
While the release is thought to be in 2008 on the PC that could change once the beta is launched and feedback is collected. With so much back story available Developers have a lot of information to integrate and take advantage of. Be sure to keep an eye on this one, it just could be the crown jewel in the MMO Universe.

Stargate was alright(it was certainly no Farscape :P), but I picture an MMO of it getting stale within a couple months. Just think of how many times you've watched them step through the gate only to find yet another temperate forest with aliens that are identical to humans that wear generic tattered clothes.
Although their plan to tie the game in with the next Stargate series sounds kinda cool.

Actually, I have to disagree with you on that. The season that's on tv over here now IS farscape. With the same freaking cast. Which is why I don't really follow it anymore.

lol to many MMO's coming out...i can't decide! lol...i think if i was going to play a more futuristic online game it will be Star Trek Online..Although..games based on movies or TV series scare me lol...they are unpridictable...just have to wait and see i guess. lol.
but yes it is cool that they are tieing the upcoming movies into the online game.
