Whats wrong with me computer?

hey,

earlier today my computer shut down,then reset 5-6 times in 10 secounds.

then when i continued on 10 min later it haqppened again, now i cant go 1 min with out this cycle occuring.

its also making a squaking sound, cant even run it in safe mode:(

any help?

My Cousin's Lappy does that from time to time. The only way for him to fix it is to do a System Restore. Perhaps that is the same problem your having.

Is the system booting up all the way, when you restart?

i restored it back 3 weeks i think ( to the 4th of aug)
but that only made it cut off faster.

now i can just get into my profile.
cant even do it in safe mode,messes up there too.

today was the first time as far as i know

how would i go about that?
is there any way to do it besides turning on computer?

also i have found the instalation cd, will that help?

Could be something is overheating, or it could be your powersupply is dying.

One way to eliminate the overheating, leave it shutdown for awhile(30 min to an hour) then start it up, and see if it stays on any longer. If it does, then its most likely heat as it takes longer for it to overheat when it starts off colder.

It could also, as odd as it sounds, be your BIOS, I just recently upgraded, and I was having an odd problem with my computer working fine during the day, then not waking up in the morning, and shutting off 5-10 seconds after I hit the on button. I updated the bios hoping it would help, and to my surprise, it has worked fine for the past 2 days. But, updating the BIOS is NOT something you should try to do unless you know what your doing, 1 mistake could mean having to get a new motherboard.

Update in whenever I dont feel lazy.

Put the instalation CD (assuming it is the restore disk) into the cd-rom. Reboot computer from CD and follow onscreen directions...

Usually you if a bootable cd is in the cd-rom you will see a message the says "Hit Any Key To Boot From CD"...just hit any key...

dunno but my laptop had the same prob all the time, thx to panda, it wasut a simple notebook noit disenged for playing games, now i got my new pc i hadthe same prob few hour ago, i closed GW and it reboted o.O

I had the same problem on my other computer. Just needed a new power supply, def worth switching one out and trouble shooting that.

ty for all the replies:)

been of for 30 min, i'll give it another hour.
not sure what bios are so yeah,i might cause a mischief.

i found the recovery cd:) so i'll try that soon.

as for the overheating its been on everyday of the summer for around 12 straight, ( not all me, somone is always using it at some time)

well for the summer with 2 wall outlets we had, a small fax, then and adapter, with the modem,computer,moniter and another adapter onto that giving this computer and moniter power, so around 6 apliances in 2 sockets, could that have had somthing to do with it?

Totally over loading that curcuit. I would move one computer to another location/room [sometimes entire rooms are on one curcuit]. Another option is to only use one computer at a time [i.e. only have one powered on at a time]

Besides, I run, 1 computer, 1 printer, speaker/subwoofer, laptop, dual 19" monitors and more on a single plug, that doesnt include whats hooked up to the other plug and I've never had anything go wrong yet.

The scary thing is he is running all this on an "adapter" which I can imagine is one of those 6 sided plugs. I would recommend a surge protector for sure.

For me, computers are expensive because I built it [its more than just money]. I dont have anything else besides my computer stuff on this wall outlet [1 PC with 250w PS {its a cube} two 20.1" screens, speakers, wireless kb and mouse setup].

If theres squeaking comming from your comp, maybne your hard drive took a crap, its kinda rare-ish but no UNCOMMON for your harddrive to just stop working right, physically, and could be the source, but formating and cleaning comes before buying new parts, good luck tho.

i kinda had this problem earlier, when i was going on GW my computer shut off. This is because my computer needed to keep up with gw and did his best, causing a overheat.

It is normal to have high temperature in your computer during the summer, however the temperature can reach it's limits and the computer shuts off automatically for safety.

Try this; (if you have enough room for it)
Open the side of your computer (should slide off easily)
Remove dust that's in there, you could do this with a vacuum cleaner, but be careful. (i also heard of this 'canned air' thing, you can try that also, i never heard of canned air so i'm not using it xD)

When the side is opened, place a fan (if you have one o.O) next to the opened side and look if the computer shuts down again.

IF this works, download 'Everest Home Edition' (google it ;])
and go to (in Everest) Computer>>>Sensors there you can monitor the heat your computer is producing. The CPU should run around 40'C or so (well mine is with the fan next to it) and the GPU around the 50'C (mine is also)

shouldn't be hard doing all of this, or else try (if you can, if not, ask someone pro) removing the CPU Fan in the computer, could be some dust in there ;)
If that doesn't make any difference i would say, buy a better CPU Fan, 1 80x80MM one (you can easily put these in your computer) and maybe another 80x80MM ^^

But that's just if overheating is the problem :P

kick your pc till iot's work (or till you need to buy a new one :( )

so bring it back to the store

btw did you overclock it? (if you don't know what it is don't mind)
if you did flash your bios and put the settings like normal
if still not work
trow him away
hang him at your car a ride with it
put him in toilet and sh*t on it XD

its really an adapter with 2 sockets conencted to an adapter with 4 conected to the wall:P

i let it cool for around 1.30- 2 hou maybe 20 min on it. thw window was open with a nighttime breeze too.

i'll give the dusty fan thing ago too,hasnt been opened in around 2 years, so worth ago.

This reminds me of a problem I had once. My hard drive wouldn't work no matter what I did.
So I took it out and smacked it over my knee then put it back in and never had a problem since.
