With PS3 falling behind in the console race, Sony is introducing PlayTV which has a dual digital tuner and provides an onscreen guide and DVR control capability. Although it will not be released in North America right away it is still an interesting feature.

Sony PS3 is currently behind by about 6 million systems world wide, the Wii has officially sold more units than the Xbox 360 because of the bad sales in Japan for Microsoft, they are neck and neck with around 10.5 million sales right now...soooo...I dont think this is going to catch them up.
People have TiVo and DVRs from the cable company for a reason, and do NOT have PS3's for a reason...haha
PS2 still sells almost as many each month as PS3 LMAO
Yeah I agree that it isn't particularly likely that PS3 is going to catch up to 360 or Wii anytime soon. However I did read an interesting article speculating that as 1080p HD becomes more popular so will PS3 simply due to the fact that the 360 cannot handle 1080p games. It'd be much more attractive for games developers to be able to create games for a console on which the game's full potential can be seen. As a PS3 owner I can only hope this proves true, although as sales stand I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't.

RE: Sony's PS3 PlayTV
I was going to buy a PS3, but then realized the games (lack there of?) for it. I'll wait for a price drop for this one!
I am planning to buy one. Matter of fact, if I had $500 I'd go buy one now. I hear that in the new 80gb version, they're going to software emulation for backward compatibility, where the 60gb is hardware emulated.
Sure, there might not be many games right now, but the original xbox took this long too when it was first released. Most consoles are this way for the first year of their lifetime.
You could say that the Wii isn't like that, but for me (and I have a Wii) there just aren't any games out for it that I want to play, and the ones that are out, I'm leary of buying for fear of crappy motion controls. I hear they've done it right in Metroid Prime 3 though.
Anyway, PS3 might be at the bottom with a few games out right now, but that doesn't change my mind on wanting to get one. Historically, the most of the games I've wanted to play have been on a Sony system, so until I see the majority of my "want to play" list move to anther system, my best bet is to stick with the PS3.
i have always loved Playstation more then the other systems and to be honest it kind of scares me that they are not doing so well...i would like to say "give them more time" but i really don't think time is what they need. They made a very complex system and i think that was their biggest mistake.
Don't count Sony out just yet though, i don't think this is the END of the PS3...i think it will drag on in 3rd place but fix their mistakes the next time and be back on top.
I just don't want to see the day when Bill gates has taken over the North American Markey for good.
I remember when the first Xbox came out i was like " yea that not going anywhere" and hear we are years later....boy is my face red.
So yea c'mon Sony lets pick it up!!!
P.S.
Dammit Sony bring me another Legend of Dragoon and maybe i'll buy a PS3! lol
Ps3's price is near what the original Xbox was when it first came out, that being said... look how popular the Xbox is still, now? (Price got lowered..)
Tbh I don't want a Ps3 because of the price, as with many people.
They released this weekend they will be RESTOCKING the xbox 60gb on the SonyStyle.com, even though they were "sold out" they are going to continue making them and selling them, there was also a remark that the 80gb MAY be reduced soon...but all I know for sure is they started making 60gb again so you can still get the cheaper one!
