RE: making a supergroup

The Best way is to get some of your friends into the game as a start. You are in the same time zone, can call to set up gatherings and so on. It makes it easier to set up and see what your people want in a SG.
From there you can invite people who you team with and like and so on until you get a core group of players for your SG.
I'd suggest your base is practical to start with rather than pretty, stores, vaults, worktable and TP pads.

The most important thing of all is to be patient. Nine out of ten people already have supergroups, and you need to actively look for members who either don't have one yet, or are unhappy about their current one.
Also, don't spam the broadcast, help, arena, request or whatever channel with 'Super X SG is looking for members blablabla'. People tend to dislike this.

Just be patient, and ask people who aren't in a supergroup to join you!

RE: making a supergroup

Or you can start a group and just fill it up with your own toons. On Victory, I have a group that currently only has 12 active members. 11 of them are mine and 1 is Lord X's.

I wanted to learn more about supergroups and base building so I created a supergroup with my Spines scrapper. Then created 10 other heroes of various archetypes and had Lord X join the group and invite all my other toons. That gave me a good amount of bonus prestige to start playing with designing a base.

It is fun, but difficult to gather prestige on my own. That might be a good place to start so that you will have a base when people start joining you.

If you let me know what server, I might have a toon that can join and earn some prestige once in a while. I am an alt-o-holic and play lots of characters. Why not help get you some prestige at the same time.

Let me know if you what help or just another warm body in the group.

RE: making a supergroup

Thanks for all the help. All of you gave great advice. I have one more question though. Do you think that themed supergroups, like spec ops, would attract more players?

Triumph:
Energized Ninja: 50 Energy/Energy Blaster
Arctic Rock: 35 Stone/Ice Tanker
Lights Eye: 16 Peacebringer
Sword of Night: 18 Katana/Regen Scrapper
Lightfire: 18 Fire/Kinetics Controller

Pinnacle:
Villain: 20 Illusion/Rad Controller

Virtue:
Darkness Star: 10 Warshade

And many others...

In my case yes, and the thought of gaming with other GA members do lure me away from my home server every now and then.

I made toons for both the SpecOps and the GAA.

Yes, I think so, depending on the theme. If you do something similar to Spec-Ops, with special naming and costuming considerations, it will be difficult to recruit in-game as those players have already made a hero. This would necessitate them logging off and creating an all new hero to join your SG. Some might be willing to do that, but I would guess most would not. You can always float your idea around GameAmp since we are almost all alt-o-holics and love to create new characters, especially with themes.

If you want to recruit in-game, you are better off choosing a theme based on AT-type, or Power-type. Something like an All-Defender SG, or an SG full of heroes with Ice and/or Storm powers. That way you could recruit on the fly.

Whatever you choose as a theme, make sure it is something you will really enjoy. Members will come and go, but you will be with that SG for the life of your hero (or at least until you disband the SG).
