Okay, seriously I gotta know what's up. Do people get ban for cussing on guilds wars? If so then why when there is actual filter option for you to put on and remove off? There's this guy in piken saying he's reporting me for cussing because he has been ban for it before. So I am just curious about this. If someone can clear it up for me then thanks. I do know racists slurrs isn't allowed though.

Racism, insulting and cursing are not allowed in the game as is stated in the Rules of Conduct. Even though there might be a filter, most people have it turned off since it tends to filter 'regular' words as well (like the abbrevation for assasin: ass)
So the dude is right; if you decide to cuss and curse in local chat you have a pretty big chance of getting banned for inappropriate language.

There is a limit to swearing. And yes the Filter is there for a reason. But if people are being just down right kittens or being racial, then a ban is in order.

I'm around people who cuss all the time. I wasn't only one cussing. Were all just goofing around and having fun. He just happens to target me out of all the people in piken. Wow, but that is still pretty weird. So if I am supposedly reported for cussing. Am I going to lose my account? Oh and I just said one cuss word. That being baaad or wrong, lol.

You will not get a perma bann. You probably get suspended for 24-48 hours as a warning. If you have aonly said 1 word; then it was bad luck of being picked out of all of the people.
You will not get banned straight away. Arenanet will first look at the proof and your history. It depends on if the person has made a screenshot as proof.
Anyway; i think it might not be a bad idea to read the rules of conduct of the game: Rules of Conduct

Hmmm well...he said he took a screen shot. He says he's been ban three times for cussing at people. So he's saying he's sitting at Piken and reporting anyone who says one cuss word at all.
I just figured cussing wouldn't matter to a degree. Considering that the NPC in the game cuss as well. So, maybe they should consider changing how they speak, lol.
Edited: Either way if that is true, everyone from the game would be ban. This guy was obviously just mad and took it out on me.
Letting everyone know that Niel Peart reporting anyone who cusses, in team chat or local...where ever. >_>
But yes I am sorry for cussing either way. I was joking around saying "watch your fing language" after people were cussing. >_< Wow..I feel bad. I never gotten into trouble for anything before. I hope I don't lose my account.

I think getting banned for swearing is absolute sh*t :)
The chat filter on as default so new players who may not want to see that thing don't have to, and those like me who don't mind can turn it off.
Being racist is a touchy subject these days, anyone and everyone seems to take offense and kick up a stink. It's simple, if your not playing with good friends or guildies, don't mention anything about colours or world regions, so no talking about geography or art at all costs!
If people see a nasty word starting with an 'F' or an 'S' or a 'C' or a 'A' then they can turn on the filter to their little hearts are content. But let those of us who don't let simple words offend us swear till the cows come home.

I was referring to swearing and racism as a whole, not to what you did. If that was all you said then I believe you should not get banned and that person who reported you should harden the f**k up or turn on the chat filter.

I really doubt you'll lose your account for a first offense, I doubt the guy will even report you.
I think that the bans come when foul language is used against someone rather than in general, I wouldn't report someone for swearing in LC for the same reason that I wouldn't interfere with someone in RL unless they were being abusive to someone else. Mind you if someone starts swearing AT me I have no problem sending some screenies to ANet.
As for racism that's gonna be a touchy subject whatever happens. A friend of mine who's Dutch (so English isn't his first language) was running a group somewhere and while chatting he miss-spelled Nigerian...little place in Africa, always adverts on TV begging for money etc...anyway he put in an extra 'g' and woke up the next day to a 72 hour ban.
But this one's an old old topic on here and always comes out the same...Don't swear else you'll get punished. We sign up to that in the EULA, which EVERYONE who's playing just re-accepted this weekend, which once agreed to gives us no right to use abusive language.
Oh and say no to drugs...and smoking...and beer...and do your homework...and don't f&£%*£g swear!!

Well thank you. XD I'm just a bit freaked out by all of this. People do cuss all the time in the game, but most of the time isn't really where people are actually cussing each other out. People cuss during missions and whatever else. Yes, I will re frame from cussing altogether now. I'm not very sure if he did report me or not, but I have been wondering about this. I figured it would be alright because of there being a filter.

Im pretty sure its only racial slurs that can get you banned swearing can only get you banned if you bypass the filter say by doing f.u... you can figure the word out ur self

IF they ban you, they wont tell you. You'll log on and you'll get a screen saying You have been banned for xx hours. Reason = Racial slurs/scamming/insert reason here.
And i know of ppl who scammed and they only got a temp ban. ANet only perma ban botters or multiple time offenders.
