RE: Gotcha!

Nice one......little do they know all you need to type in either wiki is Black Moa Chick, and it tells you how to get one. :)

They also do not seem to know that saying you work for anet(as in impersonating a GM) will get you banned.

A GM will either have a GM tag, or they will not say they work for anet, otherwise that account would attract too much attention whenever they log on.

Update in whenever I dont feel lazy.

You shouldn't...reporting him for breaking the rules is perfectly fine, but behaving like "haha, look, it was me who got you banned!" is kinda childish imho...

I agree

Feel good that you got a person breaking the rules but no need to brag.

Wallowing in others misfortune...this is disgusting and pathetic in my opinion. Reminds me of a character named Randall from recess.

Imho, he must have know the rule which states that you should not impersonate any member of staff, and so I believe he deserves the punishment of being (temp) banned.

As the old saying goes "don't commit the crime if you can't do the time."

RE: Gotcha!

Not everyone are aware of that you cannot go around pretending to be anet staff, maybe he didnt know so

I mean afterall if he knew about it he would know about the ban part and that GMs dont tell people they are unless they are like Gaile Gray

But even if he didnt know, its still wrong to pretend to be staff, I couldent just rob a bank and tell the cops I didnt know that you may not do so and get away with it.

Haha, yeah, I remember him, the little weasel...

In any case, I agree with the good man I just quoted. I dont snitch and hate it when others do it unless the action was extreme/illegal.

It's not the snitching that I have a problem with. It's the fact that he is telling us about it and trying to embarrass the guy while trying to make himself look good. The guy didn't scam anyone or hurt anyone so he doesn't deserve to be humiliated. He had a moment of vanity. If anet has any sense they will warn him and nothing more.

That's true. Yeah, I get where you're getting at and it would've been a more sensible "punishment."

RE: Gotcha!

yeah, i gotta agree with the above posters.

i know its wrong to impersonate a GM, blah blah blah, but its just a game. let the man get on with it. he didnt seem to be hurting anyone or threatning anyone. i think a warning will do, as mentioned, the guy could be new(ish) to the game and doesnt know all the rules or whatever.

i dont know why people dont just enjoy the game more instead of worrying what everyone else is doing

just my £0.02

its every players responsibility to know the rules, and they are all stated in the user agreement. so if they break them they can only blame themselfs for whatever punishment they get.

RE: Gotcha!

yeah, but in saying that i have not read every rule and regulation, and i'm sure i'm not alone. most of the time it will be down to moral judgement to know the diff between right and wrong, scamming etc.

but something like that... i mean... i hope the guy didnt get banned anyways.

So you would be ok with someone sending you to jail for a law you didn't know about in your country? Lets be realistic here. Who has read the useres agreement and read every change that has been done to it since the games release? I doubt some people who work for anet have doen that.

RE: Gotcha!

if the crime was severe enough to cause jailtime im quite sure i whuld nknow about it. and if not then yeah i whuld be ok with that. the fact that you dont know ur breaking the law dosnt change the fact that you are breaking the law.

whuld you be ok with some1 getting away with murdering a reletive of yours becus he "didnt know" that murder was a crime?

like i said its up to every player to know about the rules of the game. if he dosnt and gets punished for doing somethign stupid its his own fault.

But I am not talking about some major obvious crime that hurts others. I am talking about a small time obscure crime that hurts no one. Like wearing blue on sundays. Lets say that was against the law. Would you be ok if there was no announcement that was easily available and you got arrested for it?

smaal, obscure crime that doesnt hurt anyone: someone stealing your radio out of your car. No got hurt hurt right? If you think that person shouldnt be charged, let me know. I'll be right over to get your stereo.

That hurts someone...me. I am not using hurt as in a physical hurt... I thought that was pretty obvious.

RE: Gotcha!

if i went my entire life not seeing any1 dressed in blue on a sunday and not knowing why i whuld probably deserve to be in jail.
anyway its besides the point. you signt the user agreement. its a contract in which you oblige to follow the rules of the game. the rules are provided to you and just this week you have been forced to sign it atleast 2 or 3 times. if you dont wanna know what you are agreeing to thats you own problem and you cant blame any1 else for it. and its not like its a new rule that you can't impersonate a-net employees.

just like in real life its illegal to impersonate goverment officials.

in fact most of the rules in game are pretty much the same as in real life. dont scam ppl. dont steal, don't stand around screaming foul language, dont harrass otherp layers dont impersonate a-net personel

if a-net dont punish him for breaking the rules why shuld they punish any1 at all for breaking the rules?

Well then that is a stupid rule. If someone acts like an a-net employee and scams people or hurts people in some way fine ban them. If they do it just to seem cool warn them once and then if they get caught doing it again then ban them. Rules is rules is not a good reason to ban soemone.

yes that's a good point. for small things as these where nobody is getting hurt or losing any items/money nobody should report him, he probably didn't even know that it was a rule. god come on, who just stands there in a district where kids talk out loud and as soon as they say something minor that doesn't hurt anybody except making themselves bigger for a minute or two SOMEBODY just screenshots and reports and then is very happy if the person got banned... i seriously don't understand how people can be so mean and egoistic...

never do something to somebody that you wouldn't like to get done to urself (or something like that)
