What's your budget?

Check out Bare Bones systems like these at Novatech

£100 for a full system which is much better than yours (no offense meant) and you can stick your HDD in there and use all your current software. Might need a new PSU if you plan on a high end Gfx card.

The point of this is that if you start upgrading an old machine you'll look at what you want and end up with a new Motherboard to sit it all on...in the end you've got a whole new system in the same old box. Barebones are a nice solution for the less computer savvy.

Required System Specs:

    * Windows XP/2000/ME/98
    * 800 MHz Pentium III or equivalent
    * 256 MB RAM
    * ATI Radeon 8500 or GeForce 3 or 4 MX with 32MB of video memory
    * 500 MB hard drive space
    * Internet connection
    * DirectX 8.0

Recommended System Specs:

    * Windows XP/2000/ME/98
    * Pentium III 1GHz or equivalent
    * 512 MB RAM
    * ATI Radeon 9000 or GeForce 4 Ti Series with 64MB of video memory
    * 500 MB free hard drive space
    * Internet connection

As you can see you are running GW on its lowest requierment as far as RAM is concerned. And even recommended is quiet low for running GW on the highest possible settings. I would recommend at least 1.5 Gig for RAM. It will boost the FPS and such and gives less lagg issues.

your processor is sort of on the low end, but that isn't too bad. your gfx card looks fine i would say just buy another gig or so of ram and you'll be good to go.

RE: What I Should Buy To Improve My Computer?

You can convert £ to $ pretty much by doubling so £100 = $200~

Just Google for Barebones system and loadsa stuff comes up. I don't know any American companies except Circuit City but I'm not sure they do them. Track down some computer dealers rather than electrical stores as they are going to have a better selection.

The thing is tho it's gonna work out cheaper to buy a whole set up than to try and upgrade what you've got. You don't need a new monitor, mouse & other peripheral stuff tho so a barebones system only gets you what you need.

A quick omg! The dollar is still falling against the pound...you Americans need to go spend some monies!

1st thing u should buy min. 256 or 512 ram
and cheap pentium 4 processor (if u got 1. something ghz processor) then u can buy up to 3.0 GHz pentium 4 on socket 478; and radeon 9600 xt 128 or 256 mb is allso cheap

Just wondering, how much does it cost to upgrade RAM?
