| a good smite/warrior build |
|
|
|
i was tinkering with skills im still 2 weeks new to the game but i like to be unique on my build right now i have a R/Mo beastmaster goin in factions
but i clearly wanna have fun with a monk/warrior where i actually smite and strike with sword axe etc...
so if u ampers can up with somthing nifty it would be much abbliged on this topic...i think a monk/warrior could do some dmg so i come to ur greatness do your best
late.

If you hadn't heard Eye of the North expansion came out less than a week ago, so please forgive me for wanting to play it. You seem like a new face here, so...
WELCOME to Gameamp!
And perhaps if you practice that virtue known as patience some nice amper, maybe even myself might be able to help you, however as of now I want to play Eye of the North and won't be helping you just yet. Sorry.

First, give people a chance to reply, have to have a bit of time.
A warrior doesn't work well with smiting skills because of the low energy and poor recharge, and lack of addiquate healing.
Now in areas with a lot of undead, a warrior buffed with Judges insight (holy damage is double against uundead), strength and honor for extra damage, retribution, and maybe through on some Shield of Judgement for good measure, does massive damage.
No those four listed skills, can't be cast all be cast by a warrior, becasue the two maintained enchants would take away all regen, leaving only 10-18 energy left. The other two would cost another 25 energy to cast.
There are some solo warrior builds, but most use either monk skills to heal, or go Rit for damage.

i'm not sure about a mo/w smiter in pve u can always play around with hammer KD's and then double dmg-kd smite skills, such as devastating hammer/back breaker combined with holy strike or KD them into the aoe smite, like earth shaker with holy wrath.. air of enchantment zealots fire with reversal of damage and some axe interupts..

it takes alot of work to think up a build
i make warrior ones all the time, but usually it takes at least a week to perfect it
also if you want to have a unique original build, you probably should make it yourself.
on that note.
1.Balthazar's Spirit
2.Strength of honor
3.Hundred Blades
4.Sun Moon Slash
5.Riposte
6.Deadly Riposte
7.Bonetti's Defense
8.Rez
Balth's spirit will help with energy and gaining adren
Strength will make your 100 blades and sun/moon do alot more damage
and you use the rest of the skills to compensate for your low Armor Level.
Also since Bonettei's doubles as a way to get energy back you could drop balth's spirit and use retribution. But i think what i posted is better.

Quick note peeps, he said Mo/W, not W/Mo, that might help a little bit with energy management.

The build I use for fun on my warrior would be:
1 balanced stance
2 drunken blow
3 desperation blow
4 "Victory is Mine!"
5 Hamstring
6 Final Thrust
7 Healing Signet
8 Rez sig
It's mainly for laughs, but works very well. The shout heals like a crazy person due to the conditions... It's not a smiting build tho..but you could probably put something like spear of light in there possibly :)

Well you have to understand, that if you plan to join pick-up groups, most players generally expect a monk to heal or protect. In that capacity they shine the most, because they essentially were created to be the core healers of the game. Their Primary Attribute of Divine Favor (which heals for X amount on every spell cast on an ally) is a testament to that fact. It's not really a lack of creativity, but facts about the class itself.
Don't misunderstand me, I use Smite every time I use hench/heroes, so I do enjoy that attribute, especially now with the cool new EotN skills. I even made all my Ogdens Smite Support (using Sig of Removal, Smiter's Boon, Castigation Sig, support enchants like Reversal of Damage, Judge's Insight, etc). Works great in undead dungeons.
It's really about effectiveness. A Monk using a sword will never get the sword skill damage output that a Warrior (who can go above the 12 point skill cap) without some sort of additional help, and the low armor becomes a liability to the party's healers because you will take more damage. I know you want to use Stances and things like Riposte, but those will not infinitely mitigate all the damage.
That being said, you'll probably do okay in low-to-mid-level areas as a Mo/W stance tank. The higher end areas will probably eat you alive without heavy protection. I'd probably get armor with some sort of armor bonus (Stalwart, Sentry, Blessed Insignias, etc), a shield and a weapon with a Defense mod. You'll need all the armor you can get. Other than that, your stances and some adrenaline skills. Can't use a lot of high energy spells as you won't have much energy since neither your armor nor your weapons will have any. Maybe a Zealous weapon for energy if you choose to use spells?
Good luck!

Stretching out your points into Smiting, healing, axe/sword and perhaps Divine Favor is generally a bad idea.
Perhaps try a smiting build with a few stances from the tactics line or drop the whole /Warrior and go pure smite/heal.
Monks shouldn't be in the front line with melee weapons as they only have 60 armor and get taken down with ease.

Not sure what exactly you want to do then, originally you stated that.
I personally don't think Monks are very capable of both full-on party support and direct damage output at the same time. You can go Smite buffer, but that will mostly be indirect damage via enchants casted on allies.
If you want to have both direct damage and decent heals, I'd go Ritualist instead. They're capable of using both direct damage spells and heals on the same bar without stretching themselves too thin.

hey i actually tried my build out in brief, it works pretty damn well in pve.
not a solo build or anything, but you can deflect most of the damage away. Didn't end up using the bonestti's very much though. I'll see what else to put in/

Rits can do something similar to this quite easily:
http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:Rt/any_Charging_Vorizun
There's 2 heals on the bar that are good for patch heals and some nice 'nukes'.
Honestly, if you're not keen on being full party support like Monks generally are, I'd go Rit instead. They have more versatility and most players/PuGs know that they can be played a variety of ways. If you need to go full healer you can, if you want to go full nuke you can. If you want to go hybrid like that bar on PvX, no problem. There's also spirits to play with and weapon spells, which are like monk enchantment spells, except they cannot be stripped.
(I have 2 monks and a rit that I play extensively, so I base this on my experience.)
