I tried to beat this quest with my monk for the past few days, without success. I tried many Mo/W builds but I can't find the right one. Any tips?

Biggest difficulty I had was remembering not to block it's Leviathan swing (or w/e it was called) (means SoJ, Bonetti and other standard defenses become more of a burden) and also that the bear is KD-immune.
I just spent 4 hours on my War pushing through the dang thing. Tried tons of different 2ndaries and some really oddball builds. Pain in the rear. (only able to interrupt 1/2 of the Unguents it used).
A couple thoughts are any of the old Zealot's Fire farm builds, as it seems the bear doesn't run from AoE.
Another sneaky little trick, you dont have to use that odd 15-15 hammer the whole time, it just has to be in your hands when you deal the death blow ^^ Use your favorite Smiting rod/staff and swap back to the club at the last second.
You could stay /W, spend some atrib pts in Hammer and use a different hammer with good damage for the battle (mine was Vamp) build an adrenaline-smite setup and swing away :P
I kno I'm comparing apples to oranges giving warrior advice for a monk in need, but maybe it'll help. Good luck m8, may you emerge victorious! (dont forget to dance on the body when u finally get him killed) (He really deserves it)

Welcome to Gameamp :)
This is my fav build for those solo quests for monk:
Shield of Judgement
Reversal of Damage
Smiters Boon
Smite Condition
Bane Signet
Castigation Signet
Protective Spirit
Stonesoul Strike
I may have modded it slightly for that quest, but I would have thought that'd work. Just remember that you can't knock him down when he has dolyak up.

Guaranteed victory:
X/Rt
12 Channeling
12 Communing
Vampirism
Pain
Bloodsong
Wanderlust
Shadowsong
Dissonance
Anguish
Painful Bond
Equip a high energy staff and set the seven spirits at the edge of the clearing, just outside the aggro range of the bear (if you're having energy problems, wait for your energy to regenerate back to full after the first three spirits). Cast Painful Bond on bear, switch to club and swing away. The bear never gets a single attack or skill off and dies in less than 10 seconds.
Accidentally, this exactly same build wins against everything at the Norn Tournament, and owns the 'Cold as Ice' quest Glacial Griffon as well :)

they should have mad the dmg base more for that funny club. 15-15 isnt much, and imo a storage space waster. if anyone wants mine, i'll gladly give it away.

I used a 55hp, Monk/Necro with the Spoil Victor Build.
It still works with the bear club, you have less longer enchantments and energy but it's ok.
Good luck.

The X/Rt build is basically the same I used on my monk and ranger. Warrior I used Ursan and shadowsong - you can't hit what you can't see.
I also used ursan, shadowsong and disenchantment on my warrior in the Norn tourney. Disenchantment for the casters and shadowsong for the melee.

I went Assassin as a secondary and jumped out of the ring by one of the norn and then went up to the edge and used ursan skills to kill him and he couldn't hurt me.
I'm neither here nor there but everywhere. I am who I am and nothing more but yet I'm nothing less than what I strive to be.

Kind of like Cross suggested, I used ebon escape on a norn outside of the ring to get away from the bear, then used ursan to spam ursan strike with the club equipped. Worked like a charm!
