Selling stuff @ players , diff then 2 years ago ?

2 Years ago, when only prophecies was there I sold stuff rather easy. Is it just me or did the following happen

1) I know +29hp and +30hp was a great price diff but now it seems only perfects count and rest is merchant fodder. Is this true ?

2) One strange thing is now "in". People want to spent alot for a weapon + mods ( mods are the most important ) BUT dont want to spent alot on the exact same mod separate.... while people tell me that offered weapons are worth zero without mods :P ( see the contradiction ? ).

Isnt it more logical, if people say: "WTB fiery dragon sword" that they mean the skin ONLY, cause if ya want perfect mods you just say: "WTB +30hp pommel, inions whatever...

3) blue fiery dragon sword. VS gold fiery dragon sword. So gold has perfect mods. Is that the only diff ? So if I put perfect mods on my blue fiery dragon sword I got the exact same stats exept the sentence is in blue instead of yellow ? ( showing off has no use, people cant see your weapon title, armors you can, they look diff)

Just some stuff I am breaking my head on :) cheers ;)

RE: Selling stuff @ players , diff then 2 years ago ?

2 years ago their wasnt 4 million players. Also greens were just coming out.

1.) People want the 'perfect' so that they have 'the best'. Notice how I put those in ' '. Its only perfect of you think it is. My warrior has had the same summit axe for almost 2 years now. I just looked at it the other day, its crap. Non max mods! omg...lol

2.) People want to see the weapon modded to the stats they are looking for. I see your point, the weapon + the mod should sell for a package price the same, but it doesn't.

3.) If you can find a blue or purple max dmg item, then go ahead and mod it. I wouldn't try to sell it to other players for 20k. It wont sell.

People think a 'perfect' weapon is a require 9 attribute with max damage. I have several req 9 vamp bows that I cant sell. I even have a req6 one that I cant sell. I have almost given up on selling weapons and stuff. I have a bow on Guru auctions [trying it out].

edit: spellin'

If I would buy an weapon I would only buy it if it was req 9-10, inscr|pt able and was gold, then I would buy perfect mods myself

If I cant get an perfect weapons I wouldnt get it at all, seemse like wasted money in my eyes
But I think Im one of few that thinks this way

what happened to me, i asked some guildies what they think about 2 weapons, they had exactly the same stats, they were blue and gold.
i showed the blue one to one guildie and asked 'what you think about this one?' he said 'nUb, get a life'

one week later i asked the same thing but then with the gold one, i asked the exact same person he said 'Wow, where'd you get that, you rock o.O' (well not exactly those sentences but u get the point)

Same stats yes..but did they have the same skin?
If I showed someone a perfect shortsword they would go like, Ok nice.
But if I had an perfect noninscrip t crystalline sword they would go like zomgexplosion

RE: Selling stuff @ players , diff then 2 years ago ?

It's the growth of the game. Over the course of the years, so much content has been added, and those of us who have been playing GW with the same toons we had over 2 years ago certainly remember the early days of *gasp* actually using Collector gear because it was an upgrade! Heck, I used that Mesmer staff you get as a quest reward in early Post for ages...the one that has like 3 or 4 mods that will add up to +18 energy if you meet all the conditions (think it scaled like +3 energy when over 80% Health, +3 energy when over 70% Health, etc)

With the introduction of green weapons via Sorrow's Furnace and ToPK, I think we started to get spoiled off 'perfect' weapons. Also in Factions, I believe it was the first time even the average casual player could manage to either farm or afford to buy the green weapon of their choice with a bit of effort.

Now, heck, you can easily buy cheap greens for a measly couple plat.

I know you are talking about gold weapon prices here, but I think it's because of the easy availability of perfect green weapons to the large masses of casual players. They're used to getting their weapon of choice already perfectly modded. When they are able to purchase a more rare weapon with a skin they desire, I guess they still have the mentality of "pre-perfect"?

That, and I believe players in general have more money than they ever dreamed of 2 years ago.

XD Yea, the Skin is usually more important than the stats, a req 13 Crystalline'll sell faster than a Perfect Short Sword. The BEST Sword skin out there is a newb island green, Lord Onrah's Sword. :]

Hmm..I just tend to use whatever I pick up...and keep all the random mods...my warrior has a collection of axe hafts, sword hilts and hammer hafts, fiery, icy etc... which I'll probably nevery use unless someone creates a farming build which wants a specific type of elemental damage....

Proud officer of the Heroic Order [ho]

You are a Mesmer: your skills are dedicated to overcoming the enemy through unusual means, mostly by disabling them.
You are a a valuable asset to any team and a dread to enemy monks and other casters.

Studies show that 92% of teens listen to rap. If you are part of the 8% that listens to real music the add this to your signature.

i never bother selling stuff. i would rather pay 2mil gold for a gold inscribable perfect long sword than pay the same for a crystalline with same stats. i will never buy a full 15k set i never liked FoW armor and hate almost all rare weapon skins. they are simply ugly. my axe is a cheap green chaklins axe that i got in a trade for nightbringer. and i have had plenty of money to get these things im just one person who thinks that skins are absolute crap.

I am a bit relieved that I am not the solo persone with this idea. Only the fact that people want somthing "perfect" and give alot of gold for somthing that they cant even show off to friends (like I said, people cant see your weapon title blue or yellow its the exact same skin from thier view )... is beyond my comprehension...

P.S. ofc I am talking about the same skin for blue, yellow, whatever colour.
