I usually don't post on these sites, but this blew my mind. Apparently the folks at www.presearing.com are trying to get Anet to alter the way the Pre mission works because some high level people are "being dragged unwillingly to post searing".

As to why I call it a whine rant...well I just made a character called Whine Tester (that got a few laughs) and tried to pull a fellow guild mate Post. It simply can't be done. For one thing if you have not chose your 2nd profession, it will not let you go post. For another you get a 45 second timer warning you when the mission starts, and if you zone to another city the timer stops.
I had to verify this because a lot of people on the other site were saying some jerks were targeting people trying to get the LDoA title and dragging them post. As I am working on that title that alarmed me: I had visions of an evil gate monkey dragging me kicking and screaming Post at Level 19...
If anyone knows a way to bypass the above safeguards and really pull someone Post against his or her will, please post here and let us know so we can be on guard...

I'm pretty sure that as long as you don't have a second profession, your safe. But the downside is that your missing some skills so it'll be harder for LDoA.

I'm pretty sure you can get all the secondary profession skills without actually accepting the reward for the secondary profession quest.

Wow. I my lvl 14 is still in pree most of the people i help go do the quest.But i did have one person that just stood there after they invited me I asked polity what they need help on and got no reply so I booted them of my team.
you prob to slow to catch them going up to the guy or not paying attention on whats going on.

My twopence worth:
To be honest I think that the idea of being 'Dragged unwillingly into post searing' is ludicrous.
With regard to ppl pulling you thru on purpose, just watch who you party with, and if in doubt leave. If you do fiond the countdown has started just leave.(as Rouge said above)
I know for certain that you can accept the skills for a 2nd prof without having to accept the reward.
LDoA is reasonalby easy to get if you can be bothered so no need to change anything.

This is indeed true. I'm doing a mesmer for LDoA and she has monk sec skills without being a monk. just dont accept the reward. Then just abandon the quest in town.

The point is, as myself and several other have pointed out, is that it can't happen unless you let it. I tested this myself because I wanted to know if I had to beware of gate monkeys.
I don't understand why these folks would e-mail support with a complaint about this when all they have to do is zone away when the timer starts.
What's even more amusing to me is that quite a few people have signed the petition...

Eh i wanna just say that anyone that actually makes a character, levels it nd puts a 2nd prof in it just to enable to academy mission then target people, is a total sh*tbag and has no life. They all go die somewhere god i hate people.

Well back in the days i started gw and left pre i remember some of them times being so short by the time you would attempt to load a different map usually zoning to abbey or going for f12+enter youd be done and log in...and your in the trail with rurik..

Think of this... not everyone who goes for LDoA bothers with avoiding a 2nd profession, it saves about 4 days to a week (on paper)... BIG deal after say 3 months upto 6 months doing it... and not all perma-pre's are going for LDoA, but they do have a large collection of goods etc that are worthless in Post, but Rare (and fairly expensive) in Pre.
Anyway... let's just say you're with a Guildy or just another regular player, you go afk (loo break or w/e) when you return ur in the middle of the PvP arena at the academy, and you log out, when you log back in, you start at the beginning of the quest after the academy, and can't return to Ascalon.
It's not about how is it possible, it is, it's just like being mapped to a different location... the problem is trusting your char in a team and going afk... I for one never joined anyone except people I knew, I NEVER went afk in a team, EVER. I heard about people doing it, and it's apparently a big joke to them, some people are just like that... forget the 3 months you've spent working on it.
EDIT: My point is (there was one)... If they're so afraid of it happening, then they CAN prevent it... it doesn't take an ANet intervention to safeguard your perma-pre presence, or your LDoA progression. They just need to be wary.

Expecting all LDoA players to avoid having a second profession is unrealistic. Just because you created a character in under a minute to test out a theory doesn't compare to those who stayed in pre for over a year. The amount of hours you put in and have some jerk jank it away within seconds is unacceptable by any means.
A gate monkey should just be a gate monkey, not a kidnapper.

nursing assistant: just for you I tested it again with my Level 15 who is going for the LDoA Title...you other folks were right, I can choose my 2nd and not accept the rewards for the quests...and again the timer starts at 45 seconds, 3 times in a row...if you are wanting to stay in Pre and can't zone away in 45 seconds the problem is not Anets.
Genesis_Dragon: you are exactly right. If you don't want to go Post, you can stop it. If you team with soneone and then go AFK and get pulled, then you have no one to thank but yourself. If your in a guild and a guildmate does this to you, maybe your in the wroung guild...
Chrisworld: Yes, anyone who would try to do this to people is a s**tbag, but we all know they run amok these days...I have not had the problem you mentioned about a short timer...has started at the 45 second mark every timr for me. (I can't remember from my older characters, but they are 2 years now...been in Factions and Nightfall for so long I almost forgot about Pre-Searing...)
