| Questions on Invention stuff |

First off, I want you all to know that this is all Big's fault...
I was happy just finding salvage and storing it away, then Big had to finish the Positron Task Force with me and show me the basics of finding pricing at Wentworth's for the Rare recipe we received.
Great, now that got me interested in the salvage, inventions, selling, and buying. So here are some of my questions.
1) How does the buying at Wentworth's work. If there are 10 people selling an enhancement, which person is chosen when someone buys one?
b) When you are looking at your recipes or at a workshop table, and it show the salvage needed and have, does that take into consideration what you have in your storage bins or personal storage?
Meaning I have my 30 spots filled with invention salvage in my vault, and 30 spots filled in my inventory on my person. When I look at my recipes does the "Have" look at both my "on person" inventory and Vault inventory, or just "on person"?
+) Is a recipe a one time use thing, or once I know the recipe I can make the enhancement as many times as I have salvage for it?
4) With the invention enhancements, how do I determine if I can use the enhancement on a particular power? I have had some where it was a Damage/Accuracy enhancement and I was not able to place it on one of my blaster powers. Was that because I had Dual Origin Enhancements already on it or because that invention enhancement was not compatable (I am sure you will ask what the enhancement and power was...I don't know right now)?
Again, sorry about these questions, but you need to blame Bigspeer for this...

Not all THAT experienced at it, but I'll take a shot. If I'm wrong about anything someone will be along shortly to correct me, lol.
1) As far as I know, it's either random or takes the first person who posted it. You can't choose which one your gonna buy.
2) it shows what you have in your personal, "on you" inventory.
3) Recipes are onetime use. It's used up when you make it, so you have to have one for each enhancement you create.
4) In the info of the enhancement/recipe it designates the category that is falls under. In your power info screen it says what categories are allowed in that power. You match em up. It's not always completely logical what categories a power will take. I have a ranged scrapper attack that won't take ranged IO's. Go figure.
And we always blame bigspeer for everything. He's got big shoulders, he can take it. His nickname is Atlas.

all i know about IO's is that the recipes are a one time use till you get the badge for making the enhancements (dont know how many it would take to get badge). once you get the badge than if you u use the recipe it would be memorized. so basically it would be best to try and get the badge at a very low lvl because the lvl 50 recipes and enhancements are very expensive to get\make (even worse than SO's). basically just do the little missions for the IO's and you will learn how to use and make them.

First off, let me point you in the direction of some fine reading material and points of reference from Paragonwiki:
Invetion System Overview
IO Sets and Enhancements
Now for the questions:
| QUOTE | | 1) How does the buying at Wentworth's work. If there are 10 people selling an enhancement, which person is chosen when someone buys one? |
Lets say there are 5 pieces of salvage (Hami Goo) for sale at WWs, with selling prices of 5, 50, 100, 200, 500, respectively.
Swiss Arrow places a bid for Hami Goo at 100,000 influence. For simplicity sake, there are no other bidders at this time. He would win the piece of salvage listed at 5 inf because: The highest current bid purchases the lowest current asking price. Now there is no way of knowing what the lowest asking price is.
Now if Swiss Spines comes along looking for 4 piece of Hami Goo, he places four bids of 400 inf. He will win 3 of the 4 remaining Hami Goos, but not the last one because the asking price is higher than what his bid was.
| QUOTE | | When you are looking at your recipes or at a workshop table, and it show the salvage needed and have, does that take into consideration what you have in your storage bins or personal storage? |
Only what you have on your hero at that time.
| QUOTE | | Is a recipe a one time use thing, or once I know the recipe I can make the enhancement as many times as I have salvage for it? |
It depends! Regular IOs (like Acc, Dmg, EndRedux) can be memorized at every level interval. Right now, Big the Tank has level 15 and level 20 Defense IOs memorized and does not need to purchase any recipes to craft them, just the salvage.
But for recipes that below to the special Invention Sets (like the rare recipes from a TF completion), they cannot be memorized.
| QUOTE | | With the invention enhancements, how do I determine if I can use the enhancement on a particular power? I have had some where it was a Damage/Accuracy enhancement and I was not able to place it on one of my blaster powers. Was that because I had Dual Origin Enhancements already on it or because that invention enhancement was not compatable (I am sure you will ask what the enhancement and power was...I don't know right now)? |
See the first link for the different invention sets and what types of powers they can be used in.
While in game, scroll your mouse over the recipe and the info box pops up. At the bottom of the info box, a list of set bonuses appears. Right above that and towards the right, there is a spot that will display what kind of power takes said recipe. I can't find a pic right now, but I'll try and get one tonight.
Does that help?

1) The system is supposed to match up the lowest seller with the highest bidder. If there is a tie, the system takes whichever bid has been in the longest amount of time. You could put something up for sale at 1 influence and be assured that you will be matched with the highest standing bid.
2) It only considers the salvage you are carrying on your person at the time...not stuff you have stored in the vault.
3) Recipes are one-time use. However, you can earn badges by crafting so many recipes of a certain type and a certain level. The badge will grant you the ability to 'memorize' that particular recipe and use it to craft that particular IO anytime you like.
4) The IO sets are classified according to the type of power. Some are only good for holds, others for melee damage, and still others for ranged damage. It will say in the IO deion what kind of power it can be used for. Also, in your enhancement screen, if you scroll over a power, it will say what class of power it is (i.e. sniper, PBAoE Damage, Targeted AoE Damage, etc.) Also, you cannot have more than 1 of the same type of IO from a particular set slotted into a power. For instance, if you already have a ACC/DAM Mako's Bite slotted in a power, you cannot slot a second ACC/DAM Mako's Bite in that same power. You could, however, slot an ACC/DAM from a different set such as Crushing Impact or something like that.

hey Elctro! The sc-ript stealer got you too! lol You can't type the word sc-ript (without the dash) even inside another word. The website takes it out.

Ha! So that's what it is. I kept seeing other people use the word 'deion' in their posts and I just thought it was some new word I wasn't familiar with. LOL!

Nope. you can try it alone, in a word, etc. Doesn't matter. You have those letters in that order it deletes them. Probably has to do with the code of the page seeing it as a command.

That's one of the reasons I love the market system too! Once you know what you are doing, it's a lot of fun to work with. My stone tanker has 1.3 million at level 17 from selling stuff so far. Normally, that wouldn't happen until close to 25 for me.

If you think making the hanceys and selling stuff are fun, wait till you start getting your power sets going!! My whole supergroup is upset, cause I have the biggest power set bonuses. I have four full sets and am working on three more. Choosing a good set to go with that complements your build is very important. And pay attention to what you already have.... and get used to being broke!! I usually spend millions to finish a set.... the most was about 6 mil to get one hancey to finish a set. I still think it's worth it though..... or am I loosing it?

As long as you think it's worth it, then it's worth it! Simple as that.
I've spent about 80 million influence on Invention Sets on my Scrapper, and about 50 million infamy on my Brute. Luckily, the Brute is getting closer to his IO build than the Scrapper.
