The most weirdest recruiting requirement

One guild only recruited rangers.

Today some guild only wanted people who have graduated college. :D

Never had had one. But the dumbest thing ive ever seen is when guild charge 100k a month just to be a member and you cant even do any PvP because "theyre special" i mean come on....who cares if you have a Silver/Gold Trim Cape? Do you think youre really that important?

I saw someone once advertising a whole alliance made up of "divisions of classes"...ie, one guild is for Monks, one is for Warriors, one is for Eles, etc. I really have no idea how they plan to make that work, since most players, even if they have a 'main' character, do have characters of other classes they play from time to time.

"Hey X Necro X, you're playing a Monk today! You know the rules, you gotta switch tags, man!"

Also I see the occasional Christian guild recruiting.

My favorite one though has got to be a recruiting ad for marijuana smokers. No joke, I was in Yak's Bend one day and some guy was spamming recruitment to all tokers to his new toker-only guild.

Ranger's Guild Only are the once who came up with a pretty hot (Am I good or what?!) Burning Arrow Build who was commonly used for GvG.

Graduated from College?! That's just stupid, I can just say yes although I'm 17...

Ihave seen the Christian Guilds, but nothing too weird. I have seen the mature adult only guilds. I found it fascinating so I decided to talk to him and after we talked for like 45 minutes arguing aging vs. maturity I think I got him to agree to change the way he spammed his message. He then wanted me in the guild lol, what can you do?

The weirdest as in illogical thing? Well those people looking for people 18+ are the most illogical I have seen. Since when does age=maturity?

I have seen only girls, only guys, only warriors, only mesmers, a requirment to have your name be like a normal name (IE John michael), have 20k balth faction for a PvP guild (ZOMG 20k faction), only "hot" girls (aka eles lol, thats the req), ive seen you have to pay to join, about 5k and its most likey a HORRIBLE guild cuz ive NEVER heard of it and finally you have to like a certain kinda music (i forget which band it was).

In fairness, though I can see your point on the age=maturity, you have to admit that it's on a case-by-case basis. Not every teenager is going to act/chat/treat guildies maturely.

I have a 15 year old in my alliance, who is honestly one of the sweetest, most respectful guys I've met in the game. One of his teenage friends is also in my alliance, and he is also respectful and polite. I never thought twice about them joining my alliance because I know that their personalities and behavior are honest and mature despite their age. But does that mean all teenagers are? No, you have to admit many are not.

So I understand why people want to recruit 'adults' or '18+', even though that does not guarantee the level of maturity they are looking for. I've recruited a guild once who were adults, and booted them within a week, because of extremely foul language and constant demands on everyone else.

It's really touchy. The problem is, when you blindly recruit anyone in game, you just never know what you get.

Plus, I think a lot of older gamers like being able to relate to their guildies on a personal level ("Sorry guys, gotta AFK, kids are shoving beans up their noses" or my all time favorite said on Teamspeak: "The missus is mad at me and locked me out in the garage and it's freezing out here, wish she'd let me in already." lol, oy did we have some laughs about that..)

On a global scale I think there are many more immature adults than teenagers...because there are more adults than teenagers...

If you want "mature" members you shouldn't strait up ask someone to join your guild. You should get a group of friends you know to be mature to help you start up the guild. Then get those peoples mature friends to join. Then from that point look throughout the game while you play it for people with good character. Then recruit them. I mean just asking for people with good character is ridiculous...lying is a common thing for people with bad character/lack of maturiy.

Thats BS, BA ranger came out from no single source I ran it as soon as nightfall went live and so did a few other people because it was so obvious its basically a crip shot bar with BA instead, and was no way invented by some ranger only guild

I saw an all military guild. They stated that they wouldn't kick you if you got deployed.

Am military, been there, done that, and had the understanding of the guild leader.

I've always wondered how many people that join based upon recruitment spamming stick around and wanted in the guild.

When I do see someone looking for a guild, I ask them what they are looking for in a guild.

well the ones that i see the most are guilds asking for players from their country
I'm now in a complete dutch Alliance (yah okay, with some players from Belgium, almost same language)

but some are only campaign related, so people from that guild will get full help i.e. in Factions, because everyone's in there. (stupid imo)

well...usually, hardcore city owning guilds/allainces require 10k faction a day right...this guild required 30k a day...daaaaaaaaaaamn

I personally think the best way to recruit is mass recruitment followed by a "cleansing period" at the end of every month where, unless you've stated in the forums or to an officer you are going to be gone for a while, the inactive members + the silent ones get kicked (my guild, reap, is thinking of implementing something along these lines).
