Marvel Universie

I saw a thing on G4TV and they said that NcSoft is making a game with Superheros and SuperVillains just like COH and COV, anyone know what system it is on and is going to be like the game that we all play??? that would be sweet

Marvel Universe Online is the game's working title so far. As far as how it will work? Not sure exactly. HERE'S a bit of a start for your info search. And HERE'S a bit more.

Personally, I'm unhappy with Stan the Man, and do not intend to look into this game. Much of the hubbub about it is hearsay, and to be honest I just cant get jazzed about playing in "Stan's World". But that's only my feelings on the subject.

My take on it...it won't be that good, considering CoX has been out for a while and has a very good fan base. Marvel would have to do tons above and beyond what's going on here to be attractive.

Didn't Marvel once SUE Cryptic and NCSoft?
Oh well... have to look on the bright side I guess, which is now I might be able to add Spiderman, Wolverine and Antman to the list of WC's kills...

Okay, if I can bring Ninus in and crack all the Marvel Hero's heads... I might sport a lil interest in the game. Now if they add a Hero called 'Stan the Man' that I can PWN mercilessly... I'm in.

As far as 'consoles' go; I dont allow them in the house. Dirty, nasty things. Heh.

It's not a console game for Xbox 360 or PS3 or anything like that, its an online roleplaying game, just like any other MMO, Marvel themed.

I can see it being a mix between CoX and WoW, tbh. With the same open environment that you're free to move around in as you will. Perhaps even reaching SWGs level?

I personally dont like the sound of it, i'm loyal to NCsoft and since im writing my own super hero comic flick, based here in England that will send marvel UK to its (hopefully) deep and cold grave. I know that my series, if it ever gets off the ground wont top marvel, no marvel's too big, but hell here in England i have hope!

Anyway i will look into marvel but my loyalties will likely stay on CoX

I think the reason why Ncsoft got sued was because right when the game came out, you i think could make Wolverine, and some others and i guess it pissed off Stan Lee, but the didnt win so, i am gonna buy it just to try it out and see what the game is like, So thank you everyone for the info.

But Marvel had planned on coming out with a MMO game roughly around the time CoX came out and they were suing to protect their Intellectual Property (characters, looks, names, etc.) and they should have done that and was well within their rights to protect what they created. Now, the underlining factor of that is, they planned to come out with a game and didn't want to have to compete with their own creative ideas as well as whatever the CoX game brought to the table. Heck, I would have done the same thng if i was in their position.

Now, the fact that the suit was settled, not won or loss, but settled out of court, with no stipulations being disclosed, it could be rumored that this "partnership" that has unfolded could be one of the stipulations of "settling" the lawsuit. I'm sure no one is going to say what happened exactly, but i bet you anything that this was one of the stipulations, along with the whole, "not making copies of intellectual properties" being included.

Ultimately it'll either be the type of game where you'll have 30 Punishers and 12 Wolverines running around, destroying the credibility, or the type of game where NO ONE will be able to play Punisher or Wolverine or Magneto or Taskmaster, and like CoX, the big names will be nothing more than contacts.
I WILL stay loyal to CoX.
Besides, it's hard enough that I can't play one superhero-themed MMORPG on my Mac because its a Game for Windows. I don't feel like rewarding them with a second subion, especially when that really popular fantasy-based MMORPG is compatible across the board.

Wait.. youre right. Hahah, sorry, i was wrong, it went around as being a PC platformed MMO a few months back, and the trailer hinted at it being the usual MMORPG. To quote the start of its' Wiki article:

WOW thank you everyone for responding so much, but i am a big time comic nut, i have around 800 comics Marvel and Dc, and when this game comes out i will tell everyone what it is like, but i am a VERY loyal fan of COH and COV, i love that game, so thnk you everyone for the respondes.

It's kind of old news, but here you go.

It was announced about a year ago.

Bottom line: Marvel, Cryptic Studios and NCSoft will be releasing Marvel Universe Online (Tentative Title) for the PC (Vista) and X-Box 360. My guess is that it will require a Keyboard on the X-Box.

Given that Cryptic is involved, it will hopefully be similar in Play Style to CoH/V, with a nice indepth character generator. Likely the Marvel staple characters will play a "training" role or what have you. (Similar to the Freedom Phalanx or Arachnos in CoH/V)

You know maybe we're looking at this the wrong way. I mean sure, Marvel is just capitalizing on the success that Cryptic made capitalizing off of the comic-book universe, and also, given the quality of Marvel-themed games that have come out in the past 3 years, I don't see this one being the White album of MMORPGs, but look at it from this angle - this 'alliance' between Marvel and Cryptic brings some much needed credibility to the characters and stories we, as CoX players have come to admire.
One company makes crappy games based on their comic book characters, the other makes crappy comics based on their game characters...
Imagine, if you will, a decent CoH and dare I propose it, a CoV comic written by established and qualified writers and drawn by true professionals (not the malarky we've been subjected to for the past few months) and a semi-decent Marvel game where it doesn't take away or steal from the CoX universe, but instead adds to it. Crossovers are nothing new to comics, so maybe it won't be as bad as it seems...

From the moment I heard the news I knew I was going to enjoy the alliance one way or another, there isn't a doubt in my mind that this isn't going to at least acquire some success. This is what we call Synergy.

And besides, we sometimes forget that it's just a game, a fantasy world. There's no need to induce negative vibes into everything. Hope for the best case scenario.

I doubt they had to grovel to NCsoft because they aren't having anything to do with MUO, the only ones in the lawsuit who are dealing with the game is Cryptic Studios, it's being published by Microsoft Game Studios and I'm sure Microsoft will manage payment and account info itself in a specially created branch. However since it's coming out for the 360 I'm wondering if it's gonna use standard MMO static type combat or action rpg Dynamic combat, I'm hoping for the latter.
