Icy Veins/Death Build

This is currently my favourite build, I decided to try a build focused on Icy Veins, Soul Reaping doesn't provide a wide variety of skills so I wanted to see if I could build something using that attribute line.

This is the Death Magic version, I've got a Icy Veins Blood Magic build using Angorodon's Gaze, Blood Ritual, Life Siphon and Signet of Agony. I use the Blood Version if I'm on an energy intensive team who want a BR Necro.

This isn't meant to be a full blown guide just sharing a build i'm loving playing at the moment :)

Icy Veins Death Build

Runes/Insignia

Radient Scar Pattern of Superior Death Magic
Radient Tunic of Attunement
Radient Gloves of Minor Soul Reaping
Radient Leggings of Attunement
Radient Boots of Superior Vigor

I only use a minor Soul Reaping rune to keep my health at a respectable level, you could use a major but you run the risk of being targetted by enemy AI more with lower health.

Usage
The ideal situation is when you confront a tightly packed mob, cast Rising Bile followed by Putrid Bile then Icy Veins on a foe, as soon as Icy veins is recharged (5 sec) cast it on adjacent foes, same with Putrid Bile (12 sec), use Necrosis to speed up the death of your first foe, make sure to monitor which foe is closest to dying and ensure it is hexed with Icy Veins. If you have timed it right you will have an EoE type effect and you can bring down several foes at once. Once something dies use Putrid Explosion to inflict more damage.

You aren't always going to have tightly packed mobs, the good thing about this build is the use of Necrosis to do some significant damage to a hexed foe, you can either use Icy Veins as the hex (which in itself inflicts damage) and/or Putrid Bile (higher energy cost but provides degen).

Hexer's Vigor is there purely for health regen, as 3 of your skills are hex skills its likely you won't end it prematurely. Signet of lost Souls is for energy and health boost

Great build Geek. Looks like it would work great in EotN with all the tight mobs it has. I can't wait to give it a try. ^^

Thnx Kanna, I've only used it in EotN and it works great, espicially in Dungeons, used it in Frostmaw last night and it was awesome against wurm groups :)

Ive always thought of trying a new Necro build instead of the MM I usually play but never found an interesting one. I think ill give this a go, thanks for posting and very well layed out.

Yup very nice build; and it worked in urgoz very well as well :)

just a thought: if you use death; wouldnt rotting flesh be a nice asset? disease does give a nice degen :)

Rotting Flesh does give nice degen, I wouldnt use it because I've tried to include as many Hex skills as possible in order to use Hexer's vigor more effectively and have a combination of AoE hex skills that if triggered at the right time can bring most, if not all, of a mob down.

For Glint's Challenge try swapping out Putrid Explosion or maybe Hexer's Vigor (if you have human monks) for Alkar's Alchemical Acid :

Spell. Throw Alkar's Alchemical Acid at target foe. Target and adjacent foes are struck for 30...50 damage. Destroyers take an additional 30...70 damage and they have Cracked Armor for 10...20 seconds.

Cracked Armor is a condition so even if it has no effect on the Destroyers armor level (I'm not sure how monster armor level works - whether it reflects profession the same way our armor does and if it is increased?) but it will still act as a cover condition and/or a trigger for Necrosis.

On a side note: The Urgoz team was fun all those who went used the character they wanted to unlock the statue for in HoM which mean't quite an interesting team set up - 3 Monks, 2 Necro, 4 Rangers, 2 Elementalists (all though we lost one half way) and an Assassin. The set up turned out to be very fast, if we hadn't taken breaks we would have probably beaten our record for HM in Urgoz.
