| For PvE, spines vs claws :) |

All I ever see are posts focusing on PvP for these two. Well...now let's see about PvE :) Especialy for grouping and/or solo. I was originaly going to go Spines, especialy since all the AoE would help while grouping, but I hear claws can rip apart enemies fast enough that you can just bounce from target to target.
Anyway, I'm interested to hear what people think. Give us PvE fans some love ~_^

Since I've had only spines experience, and haven't gotten a claws scrapper anywhere I'll cover spines.
Pros:
-AoE focused
-Does Toxic damage with each attack
-Slows
-Comes with an AoE damage toggle
Cons:
-Late blooming set (fluid attack chain comes later than claws)
-Endurance Heavy
-No acc bonus like most other sets
-Somewhat slow recharging
Now since its endurance heavy, spines tends to go hand in hand with regen. But any of the other set have their pros too.
SR gives a boost to your recharge.
Dark armor lets you become an AoE beast.
And my personal favorite, Invul boosts your accuracy.

Bullitz Krieg: lvl 40 MM

Shikimori: lvl 41 Controller
Gun-Power: lvl 29 Blaster

If you don't mind the dripping, breaking, and splashing sounds from the spines.... I'm all for it.
Claws is very versatile, fun set that anyone can have a good time with.
Secondary I say spines/dark and claws/regen.

Spines is without a doubt the most powerful in terms of AoE carnage. However, I don't like the splashing sounds of it, nor the animations.
Claws looks good, is good, fast, powerful, and it's by far my favourite Scrapper set.

To the OP, you can't go wrong with either one. Claws is well known for it's fantastic DPS, which is where the human blender idea comes from. Spines, has the obvious AoEs, but it's ST damage isn't something to be overlooked either. Myself, prefer spines, I can get past the look of them, because everytime I play a claws all I think of is, "Hey bub, got a problem?" :D

Claws it is, lol, thanks for the advice. Sound effects are a huge part of my characters, I can't help it. If they are annoying, I don't want to listen to them for hours on end. Oddly enough, I don't find Sonic annoying at all.

Sonic isn't as annoying as you would think. It sounds pretty cool actually. Nothin beats the fire and dark sounds though.

Heh, got a buddy who hates teaming with my Spines/Dark because the sound Quills makes.
But, I think you'll enjoy Claws, easy, fast, and lots of action. Enjoy! :)

I'm not advertising my guide, I'm just trying to help someone by offering them a (hopefully) detailed view on one of his choices.

I actually did use your guide to get a basic build idea for my scrapper, lol. Only thing I don't understand is why you have Dull Pain at level 24+ instead of at lower level. I left it at higher level though also...mostly because, to save my life, I could not find room for it at low level o.O

It's easily fit in earlier if you do one of a few things:
Skip Spin until later
Put off Fly until later, and rely on Temp travel powers from AP and KR Safeguards
Put off some of the fitness pool until later, relying on Fast Healing and Quick Recovery
These would be the only things I would recommend doing if you want DP earlier, which I prefer to do myself.

awww i'm too late to convince you to take spines. well if you get bored of claws/regen then take a look at spines/regen. my level 50 spines/regen is pretty much invincible in pve and just totally destroys in pvp. quills (toggle pbaoe) actually hurts a lot more in pvp than people give it credit for.

a quick comment from me(meep) I have both a lvl 50 claws regen and a lower lvl spine dark. Each one is used for different things. I prefer to solo with my claws regen and team with my spine dark. Mostly because if there isnt a tank on the team i can better tank for the team and keep the baddies on me with the spine dark than i could with my claws regen. I am just actually getting into the spine dark. But claws will always be my first love =D
