i just wanted to know why cant we pick which login background we want ya i like the GW:EN 1 but id like to see the factions 1 with the pedestal in the middle of no where again or maybe the nightfall 1 with the boats behind you. snow is good but not the best of all of them

I think the one for Prophecies is best. xD
But Gaile has said before that due to different technology that deals with the Login Screen, being able to choose between them all, is not possible. She is aware it is what people want, and would like to see it happen herself.

i dont know computer mechanics, or any mechanics for that matter. but couldn't they like, strip off the programs for the starting screen until its basic, then reprogram it with the ability to change background screen, thatll work right? remeber that i dont know the basics of computer programming

i too would have liked the option to change the background on the title screen. one would think that they could add a game launcher to allow players to select a background but that would need alot of reworking of the init s.cript to get the game working correctly for everyone...
oh well, the eotn background isn't horrible. i would much rather change the music more than anything. the nf background music just seemed to grab my attention a little more than the current one.

off topic: cody, where do you get that strip in your sig that says you are a battlefield 2142 player? i have seen those on other peoples sig and i dont know where ppl get them :[

i like the eotn backround, but i liked the prophecies background best, and factions theme music was my fave. i miss the prophecies camp fire ?_? been over 2 years since i've seen it.

That campfire was best... With the new ability to add character slots. Would be nice to see all your characters just around chatting. Kinda like hench do in EotN. :D

well, changing a background of something may sound easy, but you have to understand guild wars is basically a entire program. changing the background of the main title to anyone's desire will require a amount of coding that can maybe take several days to be written. 'cause everyone want's something else, as everyone has a different taste. who knows, maybe in the future we are able to choose our own start up screen, but i wouldn't count it at this moment as it's way to much work and with gw2 in the making, i doubt that they can spare the time.

texmod can change textures....not everything

Like, probably, the prophecies login screen worked totally differently:

It's not just you only have one chara shown now, not all like back then - you can now rotate the camera as well. Also, they are not just a texture canvas in the background, they are 3d places modelled, and I guess they are modelled differently each time.
It's not like with CoH/CoV, where the difference is only the color scheme and one bg image... :)
