there are ways of doing this that are not exactly legal. it needs the cd to check that the bf2 your running on your comp is a valid copy and not bootleg. if you use a no-cd crack you wont be able to play in ranked servers. i'm not sure if there is a way to do it that will let you but i know that cracks wont and could possibly set off punkbuster. if pb gets set off and the guid ban you, you arnt getting back onto bf2 with that computer .
the guild wars client is designed to run without the disk. you only need the disk for the install unless you download the client from the guild wars website. if thats the case you dont need the cd at all.

You could try mounting it onto a virtual drive so your computer thinks the cd is in there even when it isn't.
try googling daemon tools.

Yeah, No-CD cracks are kinda illegal. This topic should probably be locked/deleted, because I don't think this kind of stuff should be here, lots of trouble with viruses and the like if you dont know what you are doing.

if you are only worried about scratching up the disc and have the resources (blank cds/dvds, cd/dvd burner, cd/dvd authoring programs) simply make a direct-copy of the startup disc to use in place of the original.
now, if you're just tired of having to keep inserting that startup disc then there are a few ways to do this legally without using no-cd patches but requires some time and patience to get it working.
procedure:
create an iso (image backup) of your original startup disc using any modern cd/dvd authoring software. there isn't much work involved in this step because most cd/dvd program are pretty good on creating the file structure exactly.
now you'll need a program that will allow you create a virtual cd/dvd drive so that you can mount that iso/backup you just created. this process will fool your computer into thinking that you have a cd/dvd drive with the inserted installation disc. the downside is that it takes up additional hard drive space in copying the startup disc.
i use alcohol 120% to do this but there are other programs available. i just like how this particular program allows me to create images and mount several virtual drives at once.
also note that this process will not work for every game around due to copy protection built into the game (anti-piracy) but seems to work fine for me for most games that require a startup disc.
lastly, there are programs available online like gamejackal that create profiles of games that require startup discs. you will, however, need the original game cd in order to create these profiles when using such programs.
hope this info helps!

the process that pickletron and myself suggested is totally legal as long as you own an original copy of the game you wish to perform this with :)
