| guild wars - why are you still here? |
|
|

over 2 years have passed, with 3 campaigns and 1 add-on. what is it that still keeps you playing, what is it that keeps you hanging around?
is it the fascinating enviroment, the challenging dungeons, or just generally running around killing big baddies with an axe?
do you enjoy the more competitive player versus player aspect, where not the skills, but the player wins (usually)? or are you obsessed with the hundreds of thousand of many ways of combining the +1000 skills we have!
perhaps you simply just enjoy the casualness of it all. logging on for a few minutes every day, hat a bit up with your friends, help out doing a small quest, giving you that little smile for the rest of the day (or, the night).
guild wars is still alive and kicking. what is your thrill?
feel free to elaborate ^_^

i also did lots and lots and lots or wurm farming, just by doing ss/lb farm a made loads especialy with a few lucky drops

i like that i can pick it up when i want and there always seems to be something new for me to do.

i have been hooked on gw from the moment i first played. i do get a lil bored now and then, but i usually take a break for a few days and come back.
i love that i can play it casual. no pressure, go at my own pace, play whenever i want. i play for pure fun, no specific goals in mind, just whatever i feel like doing or going after at the moment. i take forever to finish a campaign, actually only my ranger has finished all 3 campaigns, but he still hasnt finished eotn.

no fees. fantastic environments, great community (on the whole), and from my casual playing point of view, no end to quests, missions, new armours, weapons, characters, builds that i can investigate. etc etc.
all in all, a really quality game.

it gives me something to do in my padded cell on top of carving the remaining days of my sentence with my toenail into the cell floor (they won't let me have anything sharp). even if i was free the real world scares me and i scare it (so they tell me) so i guess i'd still play it. those little green pills they give me everyday are designed to keep me addicted too but i hide them under my tongue, i've got enough now to build a life sized replica of the eye of the north if the dwarves will let me build it....they won't though, they never let me do anything..pesky dwarves.....
but seriously.....
there are so many reasons i stay hooked, so much to do, such beautiful scenery, so many different skill combinations i haven't worked with yet. so many proffesions to become expert with (i'm still working on becoming an 'expert' necro and thats been over 2 years in the making). the love for the community i've got involved with, the friends i've met online and gone on to meet in real life. a game company that really does listen to it's fan base. the fact that you only need to gind if you want to. play it casually or get into some serious high end pve, dabble with pvp... the list goes on. i love games and this one has become the one all others are now measured by. it's almost a perfect game for me, suits the way i like to play games. i've tried other mmo's but nothing is as good. the fact the game is dynamic, it's always changing with a skill boost here or a 'nerf' there, keeps it interesting.

Well, atleast once a month im online for sure to get 150-200K in 7 hours by opening all the no-key chests in Elona and hand out the UNIDS for free on an hungry guild/alliance.
What's keeping me mostly is still the friends i made, its great fun and without things really get boring pretty soon, going to explore some places i haven't paid too much attention at when im done with GW:EN, E.G FoW, UW, DoA, Dungeons, The Deep, Urgoz's warren ETC.
Always liked Guild Wars, and for nearly two years its been a part of an almost daily routine, atleast its cheaper then smoking.

ive found that gw has got boring over the last few months, everyone is playing eotn (which i don't have and not planning on getting)so i can't help people out anymore.
ive found that trying to get titles just takes to long and starts to get boring very quickly.
i did try doing pvp but found that just boring (probably becoz im rubbish at it)
the only reason i like to go on atm is to chat to the guild and allience. losing intrest doesn't help by the fact that new games come out that i like to play + theres the whole rl thingy and course work deadlines to meet.

No monthly fees. Better graphics and scenery than other MMO's (WoW's cartoonish look anyone?). My guildmates. And the good ol' fun I have just messing around in the game. Cheers ^_^

Well, the pvp is what keeps me here. the great versatility and that satisfying feeling I get when I kick someone's ass with my own orignal build. Of course, the challenge as well.

I love making builds
trying to squeeze the most of out skills or combining less used ones into a good build. I really hate the cookie cutter builds, and the HA stigma's against people's own builds.
Wake up people!
i also love that its casual, no monthly fees.
The 20 level cap is graet, no pressure to even level anymore.
it does get boring
but i like my guild alot. And i try and attented their outings.
Also, i like PVP better then PvE because if i wanna make a new PvE build, generally it costs a lot of money to even TEST it.

I've always played sporadically. I haven't touched GW in a couple months..pretty much since finishing my last guide.
What has kept me coming back is the fact that I haven't personally done everything there is to do in the game over the course of my 2 or so years. I've beaten all campaigns with all my characters, yet I've never joined a guild...never played in the elite areas...not yet opened every skill there is to unlock or every elite and not yet played any serious PvP.
What keeps me coming back is the need to accomplish a goal and then leave the game before it gets stagnant. That goal up till now has always been to beat all 3 campaigns with a character.
On a side note, a large part of what loses my interest in the game is the economy. After or during one of my goals if I find I run out of money and need to farm/run to get that money replenished, I often just give up on GW for several weeks. It is my belief that no aspect of a game like this should involve any money grinding but alas its a reality that is my primary reason for not consistently sticking with GW.
