| finally got a costume recipe |

|
all my time of playing since inventions came out and i had yet to receive a costume piece.
finally, last night i received my first piece - winged boots.
it isn't like i play hard core or anything, but i would have thought i would have gotten something before this. has anyone else had this kind of bad luck when it comes to costume recipe drops?

yea, that would be me. i went a pretty good while without a costume drop, till a about a few montha ago. i got winged boots as well, and i made them as soon as i got the salvage, but on my stalker they didn't work really well.
they've upped the drop rate consideriably since then and the only enemy types who drop them are minion class, but wings, boots, and temp powers are still pretty rare and fetch a pretty penny at the auction houses

i'm streaky with costume drops. i can get 2-4 in a few days then go a couple weeks without any. fortunately, i'm not a big costume person, otherwise i'd have blown millions like others did before they adjusted the drop rates.

i get them so often its almost laughable. but then, i'm a farmer. =d
seriously, the best way to get costume drops is to find a mission that has alot of foes in it and set it for 6 ppl. if you can solo that (tanks and some scrappers generally can, as can some controller/defender combos. blasters will have a harder time, but nukes are amazing) you can get alot of costume drops, as well as salvage and regular recipe drops. my fire/kin has two farmable missions, one involving family that is very easy for him to run through, and one involving praetorian versions of the cot demons that is slower, but drops alot of magic salvage and good, popular recipes. he has made upwards of 2 million from each run, and the runs take less than a half hour for the family map, and upwards of an hour for the demon map. of course, he's also level 50, and doesn't have to worry about debt.
barring a good farming mission, grind through regular scanner missions on tenacious, defeating everything. the drop/xp rate will be much more balanced, and it should be fairly easy to do. if you can handle bigger mobs, find an extra person or two to join the team while you do the mission, but don't have them enter the map. if you have a second account, have a char from that account join your team and sit on an sg base. that'll set your missions for 2 ppl without having to worry about the other account autologging.
bottom line, test out what you are capable of, and push yourself as far as you can without slowing yourself down too much. the key to farming is in the speed that its done. my tank can handle mobs set for 8 all by himself, but its phenominally slower than a fire/kin can handle mobs for 6.

i bought winged boots myself, but am yet to recieve any from killing...probably cuz i never make, sell, or store anything....
but not to get you down about winged boots but the have something wrongwith tem that leaves a red streak behind you and it gets on your computer screen.

ive had some decent success in just normal play with costume drops. ive looted a couple sets of wings and a couple sets of boots since the new drop system has been implemented. but all of the drops have been on different toons. none have had two drops as of yet.

i have had draconic wings drop. once. ever. i have had gabriel’s hammer (fun temp power) once. period. other than that i get set recipe drops like crazy. that is why my pb has so many sets, i usually only have to buy one maybe two recipes or already crafted io's to complete a set. kind of balances in the end, because i am not a huge fan of the costume pieces (i just want to sell them for influence so i can buy more io set recipes for my powers). rare salvage...now that is a whole 'nother rant/gripe i have.
