decent illusion/sonic build?

Yea, I know there are no enhancements in there. I'm just trying to get an order-of-powers right now. I already have my enhancements all planned out, I just need to make sure I don't have any horrid powers or that I missed any must-haves.

Thanks in advance ^_^ especialy for that advice on Mind Control >> I forgot about the AOE happy people...lol.

ok i know this is an old, old, old thread, but it 1) never got any answers, and 2) is the question that i am asking. does this build have good potential for soloing? teaming? end use? i was looking at the sets and they are very intriguing, the -dam res would be super cool with containment/PA, etc. any ideas??

edit:
or maybe a build for my lvl 25 ill/emp troller that i just remembered about? what are the soloing/teaming pros and cons of each combo?

I cant speak for the Sonic secondary. You do have a good point though.

My Ill troller is in his late 20s. I have no trouble soloing wiht him at all. PA is the key for soloing. Once you get them your golden. Throw a few Deceives out into a mob, drop your PA and your set.

I really don't know much about sonic and it's necesary powers or how important those other sets are, but this build is missing Spectral Wounds! With all the -Res, this would become all the more awesome! It does great psionic damage and is practically a staple for most Illusionists. I'd throw that in somewhere

This build has also totally skipped both invisibility powers. Both of which a nice, handy powers for any build. They may not be essential but they are certainly nice to have. Superior Invisibilty is all that my 50 has but Group Invis isn't bad at all (especially for stealthing squishies) so if you got room get one of those

Other than that, this build looks fine. Like I said, don't know much about sonic so I can't really say much.

The question about whether Sonic is a good secondary powerset for an Illusion controller really comes down to whether you intend to primarily solo or team with him.

If you intend to solo, I think Sonic is not the best choice. Up until level 32 and you get your Phantasm, the primary damage dealers are you and your Phantom Army. Sonic is mostly full of resistence buffs for your allies -- they cannot be used on you (other than Sonic Dispersion) and your PA is not buffable (nor do they need it as they cannot be hurt.)

If you intend to mostly team, then the sonic buffs are very useful and I would recommend taking the shields at a bare minimum.

For the soloing Illusion controller, your best bet, since your PA cannot be directly buffed, would be to take a secondary powerset that debuffs the enemies. This is like buffing your PA indirectly! The best powerset using that strategy is Radiation.

thanks for the input on sonic! i will probably try a different combo with /sonic because i like what ive seen of the set and its got great teaming stuff, but i think im going to work with my ill/emp because she is already level 25. she is probably in need of a respec, i can post her current build later. if anyone has a good soloing build that would still do well in teams (i.e. have heal other, then make the rest of the build for solo), that would be appreciated.

p.s. - im not planning to use the build in the first post, just used the already existing thread to build off of.
