Issue 11 on UK boards

Uh.. yea.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Taking out the highlights for those that can't get to the page:

1) Weapon Customization

Specific weapons are named that will be changeable. Not mentioned among the weapons that are drawn out: Axes. Edit 1: Castle just posted on official boards, Axes are customizable as well.

2) Combo System

This ought to be interesting, depending on implementation.

3) New Purple IO Sets

Even rarer sets, more powerful. Can we say, 50 million for an enhancement/recipe on the market?

4) The 2 new powersets

We know, we know.

5) Flashback System

Run your old arcs. take your old 50s, run faultline.

6) Flashback Goal System

Do old missions, but in a different way. suggested ways: timed missions, kill an AV, do things a certain way.

7) Flashback History

Go back in time and run some of the more famous of CoH/CoV story lines (outside of what we've had so far).

examples: Defend IP from 5th column in 1941.

Help LR take over the Rouge Isles.


Yea.. this is now the best issue ever.

power customization is requested for some time and always rejected by the devs.
i won't believe it until i see it on my very own screen.

this will bring powergaming and farming to the next level.
it is hardly managable to keep up with the real good ios anyway.
there are insane high prices at wentworth anyway.
more exclusive sets are just for powergamers anyway and make the game less interesting for casual player.

wow, i wasn't expecting any of that. i agree, best issue ever. to be honest, i never expected to see weapon customization at all... so maybe power customization isn't far off (seeing as how i never expected that either). flashbacks are a long time coming, that will make all those badges, etc... a bit easier to get. to be honest, the new powersets are the least intriguing aspect of i11 to me.

so, with the flashback system, could i get a mish from an arc that i've outleveled and never did? as long as that contact is in my contact-gallery or w/e it's called? (which would be very helpful in finding a better farm mish/getting avs)

well, i have to say this is going to be one of the better issues they have released in a while. although i am not all that impressed with the invention systems.

i am glad to see they are attempting to add more powersets to the game. dual blades will inspire many cheesy knock-offs but so did the archery set for defenders and blasters.

the flashback feature will give players a new reason to use their older/favorites toons even more.

i like the approach they have taken to customizing powers. this leads me to believe that they are listing to the players and are trying to come forward with what has been asked for.

the only thing that would have pushed this issue over the edge would have been epic archetypes for the villains. that being said, still they did a nice job this time.

on the villain side, they mentioned the guns that the mm owner has could be changed. one gun substitute was a flintlock (really old gun), which could, could, potentially eventually be pirate mm sets.

but no, can't change your pets or their colors.

i don't think that you can change the color of the weapons.

yes, they will be part of the costumes, but the color will more than likely be set on whatever the devs decide. i don't think they're going to let people have pink shovels or green pipe wrenches.

All seem pretty excited about the new powers.
But what about the old?
Why don't we get the villain Energy Def for Tanks and Scrapper?
Why can't we get Superreflex or Regeneration Tanks?
And therefore make Superstrength and Energy Melee available for Scrapper?

I didn't see them specifically rule out a new shuffling of the old powers. All they said was "Here's two new ones". Shuffling old powers around is easy to do. The codes for them and graphics and such are already part of the game. So maybe it will be a surprise. Wouldn't that be nice?

don't you think that they would speak about it in a preview if they intend something like that?
and i don't think they could just give sr or regen to a tank without adjustments...that would be to powerful.

I must say this has a lot of great stuff in it. So we have the Halloween event, Issue 11 and the Ski Chalet (I assume it is coming back again this year), all to look forward to before the end of year.

Statesman was posting on the boards that he and Positron were trying to make sure this was a year of giving the fans what they want.

I think they have done a very good job this year of getting new stuff out and making it things that would excite the older players as well as bring new players in.

Kudos to the Development team. It is not always the most rewarding job, but I think they have done a very well.

yeah i feel the same way, power customisation of any sort is a major bonus. i never expected it to happen and, okay, it doesn't effect atonement (my main - level 50 spines/regen), but it affect my friend's main (level 48 katana/regen) and any further characters i go on to make. super duper cool!

a dev has said that many of the weapons could be colored, since they are technically costume pieces. (mainly swords and axe type stuff). they went through every object in the game and pulled the ones they thought would make good weapons, like the pipewrench or shovel. some can be bought with vanguard merits (the various vanguard weapons), and others will unlock with kill badges, like a tommy gun unlocks by killing family gunners, or red cap knives from killing fiends, for example. if your at/powerset won't jive with the weapon, you won't get it. (a mace tank can't purchase a vanguard rifle). the animations for the attacks will be the same, no matter what weapon you hold, and you can possibly be able to have a separate weapon with each costume slot, which would rock (i say possibly because i haven't seen this confirmed yet) they also didn't rule out the possibility down the road for having f/x on the weapons, like glowing swords. back alley brawler said they'd have to make copies of each weapon (with effects and without) and enable coloring of the auras, but it may or may not happen right away.

the combo system is only with the new dual blades powerset. basically the order of the powers you click determines the combo results. sounds pretty cool to me.

i just want to see the alternate timeline content. story has always grabbed my attention more than new costume pieces.

this issue should be full of awesome for most everyone. many "big want" items will be crossed off the to-do list after this year. thanks, devs!
