if i've understood it right, credibility is just there to show how active members are. the more credibility you got, the more active you're supposed to be on the forums. :p

`most people that are here for quite a time just see it as a gimmick though and dont care about it much..
more cred doesnt change anything in a person... except it could make him arrogant. :p so dont pay much attention to it. ^_^

it was implemented so that people would give me credit for all my posts. since i'm not getting paid, i should get some sort of compensation for giving my humble and intelligent opinion.
also, it can be used to purchase gameamp gear from here.
but, beyond just being a number, it can also give a newer member an idea of who really visits this site.
someone with 50+ cred is probably more trusted than fdfisdia's spam of buying wow gold.

this is my take on it as a regular poster. the credibility system was supposed to be a tool to see if someone had been supplying usefull information to the forum community. threfore you could get a feel for the advise they gave you was quality or not. we do tend to gab about just about anything here, and cred should be applied to usefull information posts based on the ammount of usefulness that they supplied.
but...... the system was broken when cred was given to posting pictures, which offer only entertainment value, not useful information in most cases.
so, in most cases, the top credibility holders are those most skilled at flooding the website with those ammusing screen shots of theirs, not by offering up the most useful information about the games for that section.
personaly i wish that the screen shots were on some different scoring system so i had a better idea who was supplying useful tips and info, not getting froggy with the "print screen" button.

i may be in the minority here but i am a huge fan of the credibility system and think it is one of the things that sets gameamp apart from other sites. i think my friend thunderpants brings up a good point worth of further discussion elsewhere about the weight of screenshots versus forums posts and other contributions to the site. my personal policy is to give some credibility to any posts on the the eq2 section as most people appreciate any positive reinforcement or notice that is given and can be critical to bringing some new users back to the site for more. i am not sure that any significant stats exists as to how much of any impact credibility has on merchandise purchases from the site. i also would say that it does give staff a snapshot as to what level of participation a user account has relative to a particular site on gameamp.
so in closing i plan to continue to operate under the them of "you write then and i will rate them" . :)

i like the title progression too. currently i'm at h.r. hoofenstuff level. granted, most of our posting crew probably doesn't get it, but an old fart like gets a good laugh out of it.
on the city of heroes site i'm a "superfreak" but i laughed so hard i spit milk out my nose when i made "spandex stuffer" on the way up.
i have posted pics that have gotten me a bit of cred on both sites. i'm just not a big snapshot poster for the most part. it has to be something uber important to me, or just one of those perfect shots you get. i also had some imitation comic book covers a friend made for me that i just had to share with the community.
i don't take it too seriously, but i do like knowing that 90% of my cred is post and guide based rewards. it lets me know that you folks are liking the information about my gaming addictions i have to add to the site.

i will admit that a big part of what intially sucked me into gameamp was that the credibility system, it reminded me of the cnet bbs i ran from 1987-2002. the bbs had 25 access levels that a user could self promote themselves via posting or uploading. anyhow first it was the credit system then phedre_d and thejeni and after that it was some other great folks that are still here and can be found replying in this very message thread. ;)

only thing that matters on wow site is panda points!
oh and i like veggie crackers, they taste good :-p
oh and mike is much better about giving credit for good posts than i am, but i am trying to get better, when i see good posts i have been trying to give between 7-10 points to them the few months. so i am trying to remember to do it, and hopefully the others taffers are too, and other members can always do it too.

True, but I think of the cred system as a way of determining the overall image of the site.
Someone with tons of cred and matching posts, but acts like a moron/jerk/etc, gives the site that kind of image. Because only people who are the same will give him/her cred.
Looking at the top credibilities, (excepting those who don't post anymore...) I'd say this site is very good. BP and CW are people I enjoy reading. As well as staff.
Not to put too much pressure on them, but the people in the top 5 are basically the billboards for new members. Anytime CW's posts appear, they'll remember his name/avatar and pay more attention. Don't know if we actually want that, though. :P

i totally agree with you cs.. but sometimes people can act a bit like.. who the hell are you?! you only got 5 credit!.. i dont like to see that.. thats why i think you shouldnt pay to much attention to the cred system. :)
and yeh trebor.. it does that too... yet some people are more posters then content submitters and therefor can have large amounts of posts yet few cred and still be very important to the site. :)

well, the system works anonymously. so the user you give credit to by rating his post doesnt have a way of telling who rated his post but yes he can see how many cred he got from a rating.. if i look back in this topic i will see my first post will say ''rated: none yet'' in the bottem left corner of my posts.. however my second post in this topic will say, at the same spot, ''rated: 2''

hehe, i usually give people cred who a) put time to their posts like really long this, even if i don't read them completely b) if they give useful information or c) if they make me laugh my arse off. :p

i always like to consider the content of the post, not the current cred of the poster. in relative terms the wow site is a little younger for active posting than some of the other sites like city of heroes and guild wars. that's one tool to get return posters to the site. when they do add valuable input, they get cred to let them know that someone liked their information, and thought it was helpful. so i do still try to offer cred when i see someone trying to help out with game related questions.
and we do tend to gab about just anything. i troll this site all day at work. i see a lot of just silly stuff and off topic things. that's a good thing to though. there are a lot of us that just like to gab. sometimes about the game, sometimes not. cred on posts tends to come from actual game topics.

You can delete spam with your green title then let me know what you deleted so I can ban and deactivate the IP address and account.
