need help! (autocad 2006)

i recently got my hand on autocad 2006, i know 2007 is out already, and i am very excited about it.

i also know that quite alot of people on this forum make there money in the computer branch. if not making money i am sure that some will have the knowledge about certain stuff.

i need help with autocad so i was wondering if anybody here knows any sites that contain usefull information, tutorials perhaps.

i really want to get more handy in this program cause i may find it usefull in the future.

so if you know any sites please post them here.

thanks in advance

RE: need help! (autocad 2006)

i find that when i learn a new cad software, online tutorials are very cumbersome. what you're trying to learn is how to use the program, not how to use alt + tab. i actually find a real book more useful. i know, i know. in this day and age where eveything is digital, i'm recommending a book? yes, i am.

http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearc...06+tutorial&z=y

there is a link to the barnes & noble site listing several different books that may suit your needs and to show you that there are many options depending on what you want to learn. i've listed b&n because it's a real book store. one that you can walk into, pick up a book and thumb through it to see if that's the book you want to buy. amazon may have slightly cheaper prices, but when you're looking for something like this, a real bookstore is your best option.

autocad is a great 2d drafting program, but if you're wanting to use it for 3d modeling, it's very difficult to use. programs like proengineer and solidworks are more suited for 3d modeling. i prefer solidworks as it is very easy to start using simple commands and is very intuitive.

i hope that helps you in your quest.

<- cad user by profession o.o

the use of autocad depends a bit on what field you use it for. engineering; 3d drawing; landscaping; architecture etc.

for the overall use of autocad i'd recommend not browsing the internet but buying 'inside autocad 2006' from new riders (name differs from time to time between autocad and 3dsmax inside books). might cost a buck; but you get to know the entire program and you can use it as a reference even when you are a cad user by profession :)

lol :)

on the other hand; there is no better way to get to know a program then to just sit behind it and see what buttons do :) might have to hit ctr+alt+del a few times; but then you know what you can't do with it :)
