british researchers at the foreign exchange company travelex from the national space centre and the university of leicester, say that earth money is just not going to cut it in space so they have come up with a solution! yes, they do look like little plastic childrens toys from japan but they are actually the what british scientists have come up with to be radiation and magnetism free for those inter-planetary travelers out there.

quid or quasi universal intergalactic denomination is a stackable plastic chip that is molded fromt he same material we currently use in our non-stick pans. it lacks the chemicals and sharp corners of our current money that humans use here on earth. *(i am always getting paper cuts and cancer from my dollar bills, ya know) but at least this comes in 5 fun colors...but so does canadian money last i checked.
the current exchange rate, due to the cost of making these quid is £6.25 (uk quid, or pounds sterling for those who dont know) to 1q (intergalactic quid). as bbc reports, this seems not only completely arbitrary, but fairly unnecessary, considering that we'll have already spent all our earth money (and probably re-financed the house) to pay sir richard for the damn flight.
national space centre scientists predict that regular trips into space will be commonplace in the next five years and that tourist facilities on the moon are a distinct possibility by 2050. there is even an inflatable space hotel in the works from bigelow aerospace. virgin galactic is also developing spaceshiptwo. quite an original name there.

this will be another of those who's ideas came too early. but tourist travel to the moon by 2050 is not at all impossible. i do want to see it happen.
now, will they have broadband internet? how about interplanetary cellphone service? since water/air are limited resources, will they charge me extra for a 2nd shower? a longer than expected shower will cost me more?
hehe. food for thought.
