| Heart of the Shiverpeaks (stuck) |
|
|

Hey guys and girls. I recently got to the Heart of the Shiverpeaks mission, and up until that point have managed to get through much of the game without much difficulty. However got as far as the end boss and got completely slaughtered. lol.
I checked out Wiki for advice but was still left feeling without solution so i thought i'd turn to the lovely peeps of Gameamp to help me out.
I'm looking to Hero/Hench it but wouldnt mind goin in a PUG if i could find one.
So really what i'm looking for is some advice on possible builds to take with me (like what you took etc)
I've managed most of the game using:
Ogden (WoH - Healing build)
Master of Whispers (MM - I'm now aware useless for the boss of this mission)
Pyre (Broadhead/Burning + Apply Poison - Depending on what i need)
Mhenlo (for LoD)
Devona + Talon (General Tanking)
Eve (Mainly for BR)
So any pointers would be appreciated. Many thanks,
Aztec

Here is Saji's EotN Party Guide.
First, one monk hero running WoH Healing(OwAT043AZKjYjguyBUjACMCENCA) or any other Healing. Second, At least one ele hero, at most two, running SF spike (OgBCoMzDugWgMaa0txKxQAA)
Third, if you are a caster, bring a warrior hero, running a decent damage build with decent healing/tanking abilities. If you're not a caster, bring a second SF spiker, or some other caster, mesmer, necro, w/e.
For henchmen, grab Devona OR Talon, Cynn, Mhenlo, and Lina.
There's your Party for rampaging through EotN quests, missions, and dungeons. I use this for all my characters, and it works out really well. cheers!

I thought to do HOS that you need human players becuase of the powder casks that you need to blow up the Mountain Hearts skin, doing it one at a time sounds like it would take a long time. Is is possible for just one person to do it with hereos???

Yes, because searing flames is great against destoyers >.>
For Heart of the Shiverpeaks I'd bring an lod monk to counter pyroclastic shot. A SV necro to help take down Cyndr and an ss necro to fight through the dungeons. For henchies I'd take the interupt henchie, the fire henchie and the two monk henchies. The most important thing about HoS is that you need 2 make sure that you don't get DP on the way to Cyndr, with dp pyroclastic shot can 1 hit ko your party, without it she knocks down a fair bit of health then your monk hero LoD's it all away ;)

Yes it is, very possible, but like you mentioned, slow. but I'm able to go at my own pace, and I don't have to worry about people going AFK or rage quiting.

Sorry but if you are running two SF ele's then I doubt that unless your char is set up to some super powerful build.

Touch rangers are also pretty gd against Cyndr, their lifestealing damage goes straight through her shell ;)

Nope, I'm lazy, I just call targets and let my henchmen and heroes do the work for me lol
Even when i'm tanking, i just cast I Am unstoppable and Finish Him, and that's it XD
But if you must be all "SF can't work" etc. Switch the eles to double-attune hydromancers. Vapor Blade and Maelstrom = gg

Well this mission is tougher without real playesr and depends onwhat role youare playing. If your role is a support role you have time to grab kegs and place them at cyndr but if you are a monk or an interupter it is tough becuase grabbing kegs makes it difficult to do you primary job. I would advise a BHA (broadhead arrow) ranger hero for interupts to make life easier. Most of all I would recommend getting in an organized pug (mean you will most likely be the one starting it). Focuson only inviting the builds you want for you team.
Things that make life easier
Vamp skills, SS (if you have a good tank), LOD monk, BHA
Good luck.

Not to long ago I did that quest with my Ranger.
I took 2 Heroe Monk, one with WoH and one with Life Sheath (greatly underestimated) and Gwen with an interuption build (although you can choose any heroe).
Next I took: Cynn, Herta, Eve and Lina. This should give you a good ammount of damage and healing. Although I need to warn you that it's possible a Henchmen may die...
Since Cyndr won't move Meteor Shower and Sandstorm of Cynn and Herta will give the beast quiet some damage, also be sure to take seomthing which will give a Deep Wound (-20% Health FTK).
WoH-build
OwYS0YIPakcyG535RQGVa0I
Life Sheath-build
OwcU0w3C3/Mjxw4mWgMTaJCMBAA
Enjoy!!

I ran a Shelter/Spirit Light Weapon/Shadowsong Rit, A Song Of Restoration/Singing Paragon and a SF Ele.
I was a Tiger Stance-Shadow Prison Sin, I brought Wintersday candy canes too.
hope this helps. =)

I finally beat this mission on my third try with my hero/hench team. I'm currently on the last mission which also seems hard with hero/hench. I don't remember if I had an interrupt ranger, but I did have a hero hench with Maelstrom which did some nice interrupting.
Also, like the guide says on wiki, flag your hero/hench; it really helps. Just flag before you fight him, and you probaly have to re-flag 1 or 2 when he goes underground. I think I brought 1 hero healer and 1 hench healer since all the hench get grouped together.

Is this a "mandatory multiple defeats"? I can get him knocked down, and then the blue bar fills up, but we haven't killed him, so he goes underground and comes back up and I need to start all over again. I have had that happen 3-4 times before I get so flippin' frustrated and just port back to the Eye Tower.
Also, some of the abbreviations used in the builds in this discussion have left me scratching my head.

Whenever I do it I always bring three things.
Spirit spammer rit(with blood song)
Interupter (ranger interrupter)
Lod healer
When you fight the final boss you need to spread out. Make everyone but you a better target. Then drop bombs on him. After blood song weakens him a bit try to use a lot of degen on him and then just make all your allies attack with all they have.

If I were you id take, 3 tochers as your heroes, seeing as then you dont need to do the whole powder keg thing. 2 monk hench, then yourself as an ele, a second ele hench, then sum sort of warrior that wont die to lil rubbish damage.

Easiest way to get through there imho is using touchrangers. They hit through the wurm any time and make it a breezer. Just equip 2 hench monks and make sure you have some descent selfhealing and do some significant damage.
If it is the dungeon iteself in NM you are referring to; 3 necro team is the way to go. Add the mesmer, cynn, mhenlo and a hench of choice. Make sure you go easy on the pulls.
If it is HM and not quest related; same teambuild; but be very carefull when aggroing Magmus since there are a ton of popups and they hurt.
