I have been on a couple of servers lately, not naming names of server or heroes...yet, that are becoming a way to ridicule and put down other heros. What I am talking about is conduct unbecoming of heros.
Example One:
I noticed on this particular server that there was a message from a newbie, that wanted to "power level" his/her character. So on the broadcast channel he was asking if there were any hero's that would SK him/her so that his controller-healer could lvl up. Apperently, the controller-healers are difficult to lvl unless one has a pretty good team. Anywho...it was evident that he/she was having trouble with his/her character and needed to pay off debt, and level the character to become more effective. This hero was using the broadcast channel I believe to find a hero or team out there that could HELP, him/her. So, this person resquested...not kidding...only three times. And then suddenly the broadcast channel opened up with messages saying, "GO lvl yourself, quit asking for needless help", "Power lvling is cheating as far as I am concerned," "Get off the broadcast channel, this channel if for people who need REAL help..." and so on and so forth. I was shocked, seriously. This person ended up apologizing, and logged off. I have not seen him since.
Example Two:
I was on another server, and I noticed traffic coming across from a couple of players toatally bad mouthing another player. I figured this person must have done something to aggrivate these people, like screw up a team mish or something. But what I found out through the traffic was that another newbie player was asked to join a team at a low level and did so...finished the mission and was kicked from team and left in a zone he had never been too nor could get out of with out dying several times. So when this player got on to the broadcast channel and requested help all he/she got was ridiculed by other players and offerd no help. The players that were bad mouthing this person wasn't even on the team. I was able to find this out by SK'ing this guy and getting him to a safe zone.
So to wrap this up, WHAT IS GOING ON? I have began to notice this mass broadcasting against assistance on all the servers. We are Heroes, are we not. I for one would not have so many lvl'd characters with out the assistants of other players, not just on a team but being SK'd. I hope those you part of this site will help remind others of why this game is fun and help others as well as help put a stop to the negitivity floating around out there.
And if you are the player in example one and you are reading this, as well as all characters that need help, if you see a member of the super group REEVES, we all are more than ready to help you.

Popularity.
Unforatunately it has it's good points and bad points. City of Heroes is an amazing game, no one can really deny that. However, as a game gets more and more popular, it attracts more and more people. The results of this are that you get more people who are more vocal about being @$$holes. Sure, there are still all the people that are nice and helpful, but they tend to be quieter, not being attention hogs. One thing I've learned is that certain servers tend to attract the true morons. Others tend to attract people of a little more integrity. It's a matter of finding where you feel you "fit in".

I would like to add to this by saying that MOST of COH is good community. If you want it to stay that way, you should report things like this through the support option on the in game menu in the upper-right corner of your screen. Bad behavior and harassment should not be tolerated in our COH community, and it is up to us to keep it open and friendly.

I noticed a lot of the same kind of problems today on Protector, and I agree that it is both sick and wrong.
I saw a 6th level character trying to get out Grendel's Gulch after his mentor suddenly quit the team, and nobody would help him. He was screaming for a Taxi-Bot and everyone was screaming back for him to shut up. When I heard where he was, I decided to answer the call.
There was also someone who was being told to shut up and go to the hospital. Nobody wanted to res him, but I decided to help him. I asked where he was, and he said "By Miss Liberty." Is that just sick and wrong, or not?
Things like this used to be considered impossible. In the rare event a bad guy makes it into a "safe" spot, people used to stomp it quickly and then heal the little heroes. When capes saw a noobie in a really bad spot, they used to always swoop down and offer an escort, res, inspirations, TP, or whatever. Not anymore, apparently.
By the way, I think this has swayed me toward joining the Taxi-Bots, but I was not able to get a response to queries about any online on Protecter all day. Does anyone know how I can contact one?

I have 7 heroes on Gaurdian and have had a mix of good and bad. I made a defender (emp) on infinity and on one of his early missions (a patrol) he stopped to "hunt" between boxes. He was blatantly kill stealed (yeah I know nice grammer) 3 times in a row by 3 different people. Didn't think much about it, was a bit annoying, but kind of funny having 3 in a row by diferent people. Anyway last night I made a new tank on infinity and was in Atlas when a noob (I assume) broadcast asking if anyone had info on badges. The first response was "try www.yousuckatlife.com" followed by "www.checktheforumsyouidiot.com" (or something like that) I mean geez woulda been just as fast or faster to tell them to check forums or give them an address for a site like this. Not sure if this is server related.
On the other hand I heard a newb ask "how do I get more powers" This is someting that ALMOST deserves snide comments since you chould at least make some attempt to read the manual. He was told to beat stuff up. I couldnt help myself and I said "Go hunt. Kill Skuls."

I'm not going to point out which server... but if you check my signature you can probably assume, lol. Anyway, we all know its a populated server, so its not like EVERYONE or even MOST are unbecoming, but i was very happy to see this post after the things i have seen on my server. People are downright rude somtimes! This is my solution:
I was on my low lev troller when he was prolly 8. I had teamed with some people who were around 15, sk'd up to them so that i could do some holds (they were friends and the earliest grind is zero fun after so many characters) and help out how i could. They had to log and we all had forgotten my level, i was teamed for like two hours. So i was in the middle of nothing TOO horrible, but asked if anyone happened to be near an exit and if people would be up to porting me. Of course, all the jerks chime in "run, lazy" or "if you are gonna PL find your own transport" or "use broadcast for important things" etc. One person sent me a tell and offered help, she was without tp, but would escort me anyway. I accepted her help, and logged onto my 40 for her reward. i know we shouldnt have to offer to pay, but after the other rude responses, i felt generous to say the least. Made me happy to see the kindness.
Anyway, my longwinded point is that the people who will help are QUIET about it BECAUSE of the jerks. They are not going to jump on broadcast with the rude people and try to defend you. They will however, send you a tell and help you out. So, when you see someone being verbally assualted, help em out. They may have already recieved aid, but your offer will make their day as well. Let the rude people say their peace, they shut up quicker if theres no argument :)
And by the way, if anyone is on said server, and needs help from me in any form, just ask. Im open to help others out... It is a super hero game right???

I have been away since i posted this, but I am very happy to see that others are also noticeing the problem out there. I agree with the other posts here and i have reported these things, but I think that by us watching the broadcast channel for those who are in need and truley want to help will stop the process by responding quickly and politely. You never know, from one of my earlier postes I mentioned that the enemies you make now can soon come back to haunt you when CoV comes out. Think about it.

I think as long as you hear people saying crap like that you should ask them to be quiet if they are not going to help. If someone wants to do some SKing with you, you should remember they are not the same lvl as you and try to help them out of those really nasty zones. If its an emergency and you have to leave, then you have to, but if not try to help them out. I have to say that I love this web site for the simple reason that noone here starts bashing on someone because they don't know alot about the game. I like to play with people who are willing to help. When I play EQ my one and only Character is a 70 Cleric. I have been known to run to any zone for rezzing people or just to do some run by buffing. I like to help others and appreciate people who do the same. I will say one thing, I am New to CoH, but I will play it just like I play EQ. If I will always help when I am able to. I can tell you on EQ I have no probalem getting someone to run through 3-4 zones just to buff my party. HEHE Cause they know I will do the same for them. If you need help once my puter is back up just send me a tell. I'll be there.
