EQ2 and the Mac...

With the new Intel based Macs and the ability to load Windows via Bootcamp. I had to wonder has anyone tried it on the MAC yet? I am not a MAC user and have not used one in any capacity for many years but I was wondering if anyone had tried this yet.

RE: EQ2 and the Mac...

After you brought this up in game, I just had to try this. Luckily someone has the trust to let these monkeyhands tinker with their computer.

The computer stats are:
2 GHz processor, 1 gig DDR2 SDRAM and 64MB onboard VRAM

Well, the game installation went well...no hitches. When I logged in my UI was set back to the default setting, but that can be fixed. In addition, you lose the right-click ability, unless you use an external mouse. I can't see anyone trying to use the trackpad with one button.

The game lagged a lot, which I assume had something (everything) to do with the computer stats.

Funny thing happened when I attempted to craft. The game lagged so much that I would drag the crafting icons (heals or nukes) out of crafting window. That was a little annoying.

I think with a better graphics card, you'd be cookin with crisco......

Yep a 128 MB card might be much better and two other things come to mind. What speed was your inet connection and what version of Direct X was loaded. Still that is pretty awesome that you tried, thanks so much for the hands on report!

DirectX 9.0c
Connection speed: 3 Mbps / 256 kbps
Latest test from speedtest.net (Anchorage to Portland) was: 2497 kbps / 240 kbps.

Normally I get closer to 3 Mbps download, but the upload is pretty consistent to that.
