| better corruptor to start? |

Would an ice/cold or radiation/radiation corruptor be better to start a new character. I want good damage but also good team effects.

I'd say Rad/Rad would be a good way to start.
-Has a Heal (although small)
-Accelerated Metabolism- great for end recovery
-2 debuff toggles
-the attacks have a -defense part to them, making attacks afterwards more reliably hit
-Both sets come with a Nuke of some kind that Holds
Cold is good too, but I have no personal experience with it.

I agree with bold, rad/rad is a better choice in both enviroments, ice/cold is a good set comes with an extreme amount of slows but rad/rad is better

I'd have to jump on board the Rad Train here. If you are looking for teams a Rad/Rad is almost always on top of the list . If you solo a lot (like me) it has good survivability especially in the mid to higher levels where the debuffs are slotted and can almost make you untouchable (at least by Minion and Lt level foes). Although I havent worked on an Ice Corr myself, I do have two good ones (read: Veteran Players) in my VG. They know their business, and are a tremendous help, but I'd still put Rad just a notch above it especially if you are looking at the two specific builds you named.
Good luck!

Sapir - Level 50 En/En/El Blaster - [Paragon Freedom Brigade]

I'm another Pro-Rad.
Beside some great arsenal of debuffs -like Lingering Radiation- the Rad offense also has a good snipershot -without knockback and cool animation- and a high damaging stunattack.
Both a big plus in a team and solo.
Rad/Rad is the total package -AoE heal and buff plus debuffs and good attacks.
Defenders have always been great but combining Rad with the damageoutput of a corruptor must be awesome.

Have to go with /rad as well. I never liked the damg output that rad blast has and the powers are a little out of the ordinary to use in a straight forward fight, but I like rad emission as it's an excellent set for soloing and when I get into teams the heal and debuffs are appreciated. I ran the first respec not too long ago with my fire/rad corruptor and used lingering radiation on the Thorn Tree and it was dead in less than one minute, with everyone attacking. Radiation Emission is one of the few power sets that starts strong and only gets stronger as you lvl, and enhance it of course.
CoH
Triumph Server
Nova Knight Zero-LVL50 Energy/Energy Blaster
Night Wyvern- LVL50 Kinetics/ Psionic Blast Defender
Dusk Dancer- LVL 34 Dual Blades/ Super Reflexes Scrapper
CoV
Neko Kage- LVL50 Martial Arts/Dark Armor Stalker
Burn Angel- LVL 50 Fire/Radiation Corruptor
Shadow Glaive- LVL 34 Dark Melee/Ninjitsu Stalker
Power without Skill is wasted
Skill without Direction is pointless
Direction without Power is useless

Ice/ice is pretty powerful, but it's a huge endurance hog in the early levels. I haven't been able to get stamina for mine yet so I don't know how well it improves after that.
Pinnacle
Shadomancer - lvl 39 dark/dark cor
Krimson Krush - Lvl 50 SS/Inv brute
Ice Angel- - Lvl 34 Ice/Nrg blaster
Protector
Blackberry- - lvl 38 plant/thorn dom
Pheobe Nix - Lvl 35 fire/fire brute
Boojum- - Lvl 31 crab soldier
Ebon Widow- - Lvl 25 widow
Neo Slash - Lvl 37 BS/regen scrapper
Guardian
Dark Rumour - lvl 36 DM/SR stalker

Go for the combo of the two:
I'd say Ice/Rad is a great combo for starting, IMO. Ice has great ST, some control, some AoEs, and Rad has a little bit of everything to benefit teams and solo.
