RE: this movie will be too good
If it hurts your eyes to read then you have playing on your pc too much, btw the book is always better than the film, take Lord of the Rings for example. The film looks ok, I don't like Will Smith much though.
Gotta agree here, every movie with Will Smith is an in your face WILL SMITH MOVIE, it's never about any character beyond how 'cool' Will Smith is, 'I Robot' being a classic example, could have been an excellent movie if it had an ACTOR as the lead rather than Will Smith playing Will Smith, Isaac Asimov must be rolling in his grave (is he dead ?...lol)
Will Smith is funny in things lke Men in Black, gotta give him his due, nothing personal but I wish some director would have the guts to force the guy to act! or the screenwriter would write something that doesn't involve making him look 'cool' every 5 minutes. Sad to say that this film is not likely to change that, any film this guy is in is nothing more or less than a vehicle for Will Smith. He's not the only 'actor' that has this kind of misfortune, I don't know about you folks but movies are supposed to suspend my disbelief not re-enforce it.

Movie looks good. Can't wait to see it then add it to my NetFlix queue...
As for Will Smith, I think the guy needs some credit. He reinvented himself from a geeky fresh prince sit com actor to a good block buster actor. Independence Day and I Robot are two examples I am pulling from. He is funny in the Men in Black movies as well.

Don't get me wrong I give the guy tonnes of credit for being a damn good entertainer but I don't believe that for one minute you forgot you were watching Will Smith and believed in the character he was playing (Independance day and I Robot included). He wasn't playing a character anything far removed from another version of Will Smith being cool, I don't think the guy is probably given the chance to. In all the interviews I've seen he has always come across as a friendly and reasonable bloke who I have nothing but respect for. Call me old school but I like believable characters and actors that make me believe the character they are playing is real. In a way I think he is probably still victim to his past in the Fresh Prince, probably not his fault at all but those marketing bigwigs in Hollywood who say 'this is Will Smith' unless of course he believes his own hype.
/end rant

RE: this movie will be too good
isaac asimov is dead
or was, until he rolled over in his grave and became a zombie lord.
When talking about Will Smith's ability to act all I have to say is if you think he is lacking one should watch Pursuit of Happyness. I thought he was awesome in it. Its kind of like Adam Sandler were a lot say he can't do anything but comedy but he proves them wrong in Reign Over Me. Of course the judgment on if a person is good as and actor or actress is all personal. I'd rather watch either of the two I mentioned than Brad Pitt, but thats just me (of course I'd rather see Jessica Alba but hey what can I say I'm a guy and she is hot).
I'm neither here nor there but everywhere. I am who I am and nothing more but yet I'm nothing less than what I strive to be.
(of course I'd rather see Jessica Alba but hey what can I say I'm a guy and she is hot).
If that's the case I'd recommend good luck chuck. Freakin hilarious and it shows that Dane Cook can be a great actor while still pulling stuff from his stand up carrier lol.
But back on the topic of Will Smith, he isn't that bad of an actor. He usually does a decent job of suspending my disbelief, but he also does tend to be all in your face. While it usually doesn't bother me personally, I can understand why it bothers others.
I've read some 'based on the movie' books and they're not worth the lives of the trees used to make em.
I don't have an issue with Will Smith's acting at all. I've seen worse acting, (excepting Stranger than Fiction and all his SNL) Will Ferrell's acting is overdone trash. Every movie is the same except for a new theme.
