Impressions of I11

Ok, so I11 is out on test. And I KNOW all you hard core COHers are hitting it hard. Now that I've got a toon up a bit I have some impressions about I11 and the new powersets and I was wondering what everyone else was thinking so far.

So far the stability and smoothness of play has been looking real good. I haven't seen a glitch yet. Might even be moving smoother than the live servers, lol. Haven't even had any deja vu so far.

Duel Blades: Not too impressed. Damage is so-so, accuracy leaves a little to be desired and the end cost seems a little high. The look is cool, and I made it for a theme/role playing toon, so thats good. But overall. not liking it yet. But the night is young. We'll see how it goes.

Willpower: So far I LOVE it! High pain tolerance seems to be really good. And having two auto powers available by level 4 is nice. I haven't even gotten to the toggles yet and i already like it. Everyone knows I love regen for scrappers, but willpower might just beat it out. Time will tell.

So, what does everyone else think so far? Not looking for a final word, it's too soon for that, but how is it for you so far?

I may have to use one of my 14 day trials to see if it's worth coming back :p

RE: Impressions of I11

I agree with what Starwolf said. I don't really like dual blades all that much. They look awesome. But like starwolf said the damage and accuracy aren't all the great. But I love the weapon customization. Ive made a couple weapons guys that use weapons and I love picking the weapons they are using, it makes the costume so much better.

Triumph:
Energized Ninja: 50 Energy/Energy Blaster
Arctic Rock: 35 Stone/Ice Tanker
Lights Eye: 16 Peacebringer
Sword of Night: 18 Katana/Regen Scrapper
Lightfire: 18 Fire/Kinetics Controller

Pinnacle:
Villain: 20 Illusion/Rad Controller

Virtue:
Darkness Star: 10 Warshade

And many others...

RE: Impressions of I11

1. The animations of the dual weapons look very very good.

2. The accuracy is way way low. Could it be that they wanted a swashbuckling style, based on speed and accuracy, forcing you to put accuracy slots instead of damage (tricky thought, I know).

3. I made three characters, one tanker to see the combinations of dual blades and willpower. I also made one scrapper to check out the dual blades, got him to lvl six so I had the three first basic moves, and than you get the first attack chain, which you get with the third blade power , ablating strike . This attack chain starts with the nible slash , and than ablating strike .

This made me decide to make a third scrapper, but starting out with the second power, power slice (something a lot of guides do, foregoing the first power, because the first power you can choose is often to weak). And choose ablating strike at level 2. Guess what. No attack chain. This forces you to always choose nible slash.

4. The powers feel endurance heavy.

5. Willpower let me fight red level mobs, and survive if I took them solo. Orange a group of three was no problem. Made me attack a whole group of outcasts in Hollows at white level, and got killed. So you're not a god quite yet...

6. Weapons customisatuion is cool, and works with different weapons for different costumes for you character. So my archer has three suits, each with its own bow. That I did not expect.

And the reason I don't play my tanker willpower/dual blades?
I want to play him on the normal servers. And I have a hard time to decide to what powers to choose at what level. If I choose a travel power, and go the route for Stamina at lvl 20, a lot of the cool powers will come late into play. Some tough decisions.

RE: Impressions of I11

Best thing about I11 so far...in the initial Ourboros missions, you fight Contaminated. Farm it, get the badge, YAY! Unfortunately you go back to being level 1 when you do, so you might want to drop your difficulty before you do it.

Also note: I have barely touched I11, so I'm sure there's a LOT of really cool stuff in it. That was just one neat thing.

RE: Impressions of I11

I think the new duel blades & willpower are nice. then I tried the ourboros missions. I love it so far. I also enjoy the fact that you can do a Taskforce solo. I am in the middle of it now. started & had to stop to go to work. plan on finishing when I get home. if anyone gets the chance to try the TF. I recommend it. the story follows one of the comic book stories w/ manticore.

RE: Impressions of I11

While the dual blades has the combo chain, the devs have designed it like the invention and PvP areas. You don't have to use it, but to get the most out of game and your character you have to use it. I'm waiting till it goes live before trying it, but from the sounds of things, they still have a bit of tweeking to do.

RE: Impressions of I11

I think you guys who see the low ACC of the Dual Blades are stuck in the Dark Melee -ACC misconception. You see an attack that has multiple strikes, and if it misses, it misses for each swing. Your mind says that you seem to miss a whole lot more than with other attacks cause you see all the whiffs, but in reality, you aren't missing any more than any other weapon-based set does. If you are using lowbies, wait till you get higher in level, and start getting multiple combos going. Your ACC will be better, and you will start to see the awesomeness that is DB in action. Combos debuff (weaken), buff you (empower), do DoT (attack vitals), and crowd control (sweep). It rocks.

RE: Impressions of I11

Actually, DB does miss more than most weapon sets. Katana, Broadsword, and I think Mace and Axe all have a 5% acc bonus. DB doesn't. This is why it actually does miss more in lower levels than other weapon sets, but not any more than other, non-weapon sets.

I must agree with that. With power slice you have a three pasrt attack, and yes, if the attackmisses, you kinda go: aww shucks.
Makes youwish the hit roll was for each one of the parts. I could've lived with that....

I do that when ANY power misses. But it's more of like an evil rampage.

RE: Impressions of I11

It starts with aww shucks.
It ends with son of ten fathers and a goat.

Anyways.

I wonder what the ratio scrapper/tanker is going to be in the near future.
And going further along that train ofthought, does a willpower/dual blade be a scranker, or are there even more destructive powers for the tanker?
And if you go the scrapper way will you become ..what..Tapper?

I also noticed that our evil twin site isn't running the same discussion...

The flashbacks are great. You can go back and get any badges you missed on your way. You can flashback to any mission or arc that grants either a souvenir or an accomplishment badge.

Here is a link to a pretty good overview of O-town.

Click Me

Give yourself a chance to get your Dual Blade toon into the upper levels and better enhancements. I was fortunate to get into the closed beta and received the lvl bump to 36 they gave out to test the 2 new power sets. After slotting SOs, I didn't see any acc problems.
The end usage you may be seeing from Dual Blades could be from the fact that it is a fast set. I believe it is supposed to be faster than claws.
